I'm Rich Biatch!!!!! Um, what do I do? (a poseur contemplates buying a 928)
Ok here's the deal: So I made some wise investment decisions over the last 5 years and now I am reaping the rewards while most everyone else living by the market is saving their leftovers... To top it off my father (who was a Porsche fanatic) passed away and left me some money as well. I do feel sorry for all the people now at the whim of the downturned chaotic economy. But I refuse to feel guilty about this. No I don't have the kind of money I can pi$$ away, but I do have the money that I can afford to buy another very special 928 S4 which is in itself can be a descent investment. Everyone here knows I am hot for a nice 5-speed S4, and I fully intend on getting one at some point, but I would like to hear from all of you, your thoughts on buying the Strosek 928 and keeping it in cherry condition for another 10 to 15 years. It has 55,000 miles on it and I think it could be a hell of an investment/ showpiece in my garage.... Please, all of you feel free to critisise, curse, or otherwise express your feelings on the wisdom or lack thereof of the idea...
p.s. I love all of you.
p.s. I love all of you.

Do it! But it needs to be supercharged!

Try getting a life you may have money but you are very lacking in social skills. Buy the Stroseck that should suck up some of that cash. Custom body 928s have little collectibility. I am just not feeling the love. Very few people have ever made money on a 928 why would that change ?

Agreed, it needs boost, your approach is your choice (don't want to start, yet another, turbo vs. SCer thread.)
The wide body is a very special car for sure. Will it hold value? Who knows. Depends on condition. Do what makes you happy. If a 5-speed makes you happy, then hold out for a 5-speed.

Stop while you are ahead. That car is no investment. Find a very clean, low mileage 928S4 or spring for a low mileage GTS. If the market ever takes off those cars will appreciate.

In general cars a sucky investments......with that said....hey if ya got the money might as well get the strosek...its close to you!! But it will need a healthy dose of boost to justify its looks.....but there are plenty of options around for that!

out your money in 64 -71 Hemi cars....not 928, if you're looking for investment.
otherwise, buy the Strosek (like pouring money into a fishbowl).
any modified 928 is not an investment, as if 928's have any future in appreciation.
the only appreciation the 928's enjoy is the current crop of 928 owners, or the prices would be skyrocketing as we speak......
I enjoy my 928, I didn't invest money in one expecting an appreciation in value....

If you're looking for a 928 that will be more likely to hold it's value or appreciate, you don't want the Strosek. You want an as close to perfect condition, all original, low mile, 5-speed '95 GTS, an '89 GT, or a '91 GT.
