Hi fellas - Just got my first 928 and after a week or so of cleaning electrical connections everything is working like a charm. After doing some searching online, I'm starting to believe that my 928 is a Weissach Edition. The option sticker is missing from the rear of the car, but the paint code sticker in the door has the color as "Hellbronze Metallic". Is also has the two-tone interior I've seen in pictures of them. But it doesn't have a dash plaque or luggage. Its a 1982 and the VIN ends in 1599 if that helps. Is there any way to confirm? I've attached a few pics - Thanks! Rob

Judging by the two tone interior and the gold anodized wheels you have a Weissach.

Thanks Rog - I didn't realize wheels were part of the deal, but they do have a gold hue to them. Cal, I'm actually in South Harrison and can just about see Chuck's place from my deck. I've heard some real good things about him, but I'm hoping I never have to meet him! Just kidding, I'm thinking of having him give the car a once over as this is my first 928.

Wow. Are you saying you just lucked into a Wessach without knowing it? If so, I'd say your luck was running pretty good. Not only does it look like a Wessach, but it looks like a pretty darn nice example. The badges often fall off, and the lugguge is usually lost so don't let that concern you too much you.

Yeah, the big question would be what # the car is out of 205 built. The dash plaque would have the # on it, and I believe it only came with the car and not affixed to the dash though many have put it there. Easily lost in the last 25 years...

Thanks for the info guys - its much appreciated. The car is in very good condition, 88k miles. The previous owner said it needed minor work, but everything that didn't work came to life after I cleaned all the ground points I could find and went through the fuse box as well.

I'm guessing that from what I'm hearing it is indeed a Weissach Edition, what number unknown. I was checking out the 928 Registry and it seems like the Weissach's have sequential VIN numbers, or at least all seem to be lumped between #1514 and #1689 on the Registry. With a little math, I might be able to figure it out.

Based on the VIN number is it a Weissach. I Could not locate the range of numbers - had it at one time. But there are Weisach's registered from 1549 to 1679. That would put your mid range. Maybe someone else knows the beginning and end numbers. Google used to work better for these things. Now it just give up a bunch of ads to other ads.

Nice looking car. Now you need to find the luggage. I was lucky enough to find a single bag on e-Bay some time back.

No, it was from a guy named John, and he had bought it at the estate auction of a deceased doctor. He didn't know much about the car and just wanted to get rid of it for a profit. He must have gotten it for dirt cheap.

Thanks for the info Dan, I'll take that as fact and refer to it as a Weissach from now on. From some google searches I've run, the luggage is very hard to find, and no cheap when you find it. That said, it'd be worth the cost to complete the car.

Hey Rob,

if you are able to determine with certainty that your car is indeed a Weissach, and you should with the VIN, then you will also get it's production number. With that information, I should be able to make a duplicate of the badge you are missing.
It won't be factory, but the look and feel will be very close and it will help complete the interior.

But I would not do it unless we have proof the car is indeed a Weissach.

I have a list of the "known to me Weissach's" and there is no corolation between the VIN and the Weissach number. Also the "Birth Certificate" from Porsche does not give the number either.

Number 1 Weissach has a VIN of 1677. Number 91 has a VIN of 1566.
Mine is number 172 and the VIN is 1605.

Unless you get very lucky and find the badge in a hiding spot I would say it is impossible to find out what number it is.

I have the complete set of luggage and one spare bag.
