Default Project 928 Progress Report (dial up death)

A progress report and to let you guys know I am still around.
Been a busy summer.

Things have been moving rather slowly on Project 928, but it looks like there is starting to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Well some progress anyway, I had to give my body guy time and not rush him.

Here are some pictures of what is going on with my 87, they still have to take the front fenders off and the doors off, but they are ready to come off and go into the paint room.

Here are some of it at my shop getting ready to go to the paint shop.

The day it left for the body shop, June 25 2007

Pictures taken this morning.

A couple of parts that have been painted and are waiting to be color sanded and buffed.

More to come as progress is made.

Get the front and rear side markers filled in? Looks like this is your chance. Sorry if I'm advocating a larger bill.

Got any pictures of one that has been done like that?

They do look better with out the rub strips, I think I will go look at it in the AM to get a perspective on deleting the side marker lamps.

Hey Greg. Yah, I remembered that it's been waiting on body work for a while. I figured the popcorn summed it up. I'd be cool if you could make SITM next year.

Looks like it might be a race to see which one of us gets our car into good-working condition first: your '87 or my '89 DE car.

Carl L (928andRC51) went the whole nine yards on his '87: no rub strips, no side markers, no rear wiper. Check this thread for some good pics:

Oh - and clear front markers.

Here's a better pic of Carl's car with his 'good' wheels:

OMFG, that is one of the best looking " Near stock 928's" I have seen, thanks.

I can tell you now, there will be no side markers on my 928.

You ever get over to CFOT any more?

My other ride got tagged in the rear and I just got it back.

Got a link to what is going on with your car?
This is hard for a enough for a working wrench to do, just not enough time and to many projects in the mix.

I am getting ready to start on the second restoration of the 70 SS 454 Chevelle as soon as the 928 is done.
I have most of that worked out in my mind and some of it on paper right now.

That also makes me think about going all out and making the sides clean, no door handles or lock cylinders.
I think it would look great, BUT you just know that at some point you are going to have to break a window to get into the damn thing when something fails.

Have heard the door handles are made of pot metal and will break at the most inopportunate time.

Which supercar had the electric door release button under the outside mirror? That would work on the 928 side-shaven model if you're keeping the mirrors.

I have been there, twice and put the plates back in.
