When parking on a incline car rolls back 6" Normal?
When i park in a driveway with an incline and put it in park and let my foot off the brake, my 928 rolls back about 6 to 8 inches. This being my first 928 is this normal/common?

Sounds about right for mine.
Set the parking break and you won't put undue stress on the parking mechanism.

you should take a look at the E BRAKE try setting it after you put the car in park and before you release the foot brake, the E brake should be adjusted to 5 clicks to hold the car . If your e brake isnt working well, now would be a good time to remove the rear calipers and rotors and do a inspection and grease the E brake adjusters, then readjust the shoes to brake rotor/drum then installl the calipers then adjust the cable under the carpeted section of the E brake handle

If you learn to drive in Europe with typical manual transmissions the parking brake is what should be used.
I've no idea why it's considered an Ebrake............its not.

Mine rolls a few inches with the emergency brake engaged. I've never had a vehicle that rolled that much so I had the E.B. adjusted and it still rolls more than any other car I've driven.

Parking brake works perfect, does not roll backwards at all. I use it every time i park in my driveway. My car is an automatic just to be clear. I just wanted to know if it was normal to move so much before the "parking pawl" engages. It is called a Parking pawl on every automatic i have ever scene, used to hold an automatic transmission in Park.

Good poll question? Do you roll or not?
This is kinda cool. Answers the PB or EB question.

I try not to let the weight of the car rest on the pawl. My method for parking on an incline is such once you are in your spot: Trans in N, set parking brake, let off foot brake, trans in P. When leaving place trans in D or N before you release the parking brake.

I think this is good advice. Mine too rolls quite a bit if I don't use the E break. It seems to roll more sometimes and less others. I am in the habit of using the E break all the time. In the 928 it's a hassle to use just like in my corvette. Why did they have to put it in the way of getting out of the car? Jason
