Default New Transmission Mounts

Not a difficult job and worth the effort. The improvement was like what I noticed after replacing the engine mounts. A 19mm gear wrench would have saved me a lot of time.

How many miles on your car?

What did the parts cost you?

Shim thickness between subframe and mounts needs to be checked when they are changed.

I am planning to change my transmission mounts at the same time I change my motor mounts. !!!

Does any one know if there exists pictures or a guide, describing how to change them. I can't find any !!!
Will I need other parts than the transmission mounts ???
Will something brake when I dismount the mounts ???
Is there any parts that would a good thing to change in relation to this operation.

"qoute"
"Shim thickness between subframe and mounts needs to be checked when they are changed. "
"end qoute"

What does that mean ????
Can any one please describe it for me (pictures maybe)
If thickness = not good. How do I fix it ????

I am a newbie on Porsche 928

regards

Check for example workshop manual page 34-8a.

My S4 developed an annoying "thunk" when shifting from P to D or P to R, did a trans service and installed new trans mounts and she's good as new. Trans mounts are money well spent and not too difficult a job either.

My workshop manuals don't have a page 34-8a. In mine I found the procedure on page 37-123.

Oh, and 928 International sells those mounts for $75 each.

Mine had them. I didn't put them in with the new mounts because, well I was putting in new mounts. Got a serious vibration under hard accelaration. Used some washers from the hardware store to restore the spec'd distance. All is good.

That's because your cross member is out. Goes between the transmission and the cross member.

Just did them on my GTS, easy job. I unbolted the CV joints from the tranny side to access them.
Very worth the time and effort !
