Just heard a Bobba Booie! crank call on CBS news with Dan Rather - The guy called Dan an idiot. In the face of such a tragedy, I know who the real idiot is. I like Howard Stern on occasion but this has just pissed me off. If you can't respect human life and loss, you can't respect anything.

In addition to the tragedy of losing the shuttle and its crew, it really sucks that we live in a time where the first thing that crosses everyone's mind now is whether another terrorist attack has occurred.

Though at 207,000 feet, that speculation can be discredited pretty much immediately.

We heard the boom from the explosion in Dallas.

This is heartbreaking.

Cool

I just came back from an internet cafe in Brussels...I think I wasted 20 minutes posting some stupid thing about how necessqry the air pump is.

Tradgedies make you realize what is important and what isn't-

As an aviator and as one who lives 30 miles from KSC, I must say that my stomach is upset. I nearly threw up when I walked into my girlfriend's apartment and she met me in tears, CNN on the tv behind her.

Lets all be extra carefull driving our cars today- machines can be replaced.

WE CANT-

n.

PS: If I was home, I'd hang up my keys for the day.

Man, this is awful.

I've got a major case of deja vu - feels just like the day Challenger went down. Back then, I was working for Rockwell on the B-1B program right next door to the shuttle test hangar in Palmdale, CA.

A sad day for America...

Most everyone remembers that day... as we will all (unfortunately) remember this one.

Maybe such incidents ought to open our eyes to practically ALL the tragedies that are happening in the world out there, count and add the millions of innocent human souls to the 7 that died today.

May we at a time of horrific tragedy in this nation, remember all those who sacrifice in service to a great nation, whether on land, sea or in the air.

When I was stationed in Orlando...I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing the destruction of the Challenger first hand.

Today brought back some terrible memories.

My heart goes out to all of the family members and the rest of the Nation as we grieve of our loss.

Red face

Scott

I heard the boom also. Didnt even think to go out and look at the sky. It's funny because everyone said, it rattled the house and windows, and they are right on with that. I heard it and said $**T what the F**K was that!!?? It sounded like the dud fireworks where you don't see anything but hear a huge booming bang. Lots of Bass.
I can still remember the Challenger. Got back to my dorm room at Texas Tech after playing raquetball, turn on the tube and seeing that.
Right up there with the WTC tradgedy. Burned into my brain.

BTW,

For all you Rush fans out there. (Tony I know your are) There's a nice little song on the Signals album called Countdown. It's song number 8 on that CD. A tribute song to the Space Shuttle Columbia. I'm listening to it as I write this. The song is now 21 years old and this is the first time I've gotten chills as I listen to it.
