Default CANCELED! - Michigan Dyno Day - Oct 20 or Oct 27

All-

I am in the process of scheduling a dyno session for my Supercharged 928 in an attempt to break 500RWHP! I know... I must be crazy! I'm still waiting to hear what day/time might be available, but wanted to give you as much advanced notice as possible. Iit will either be this Saturday the 20th or the following Saturday the 27th.

The cost is $50 for 30 min. or $90 for a full hour. You should be able to do 2 or maybe 3 pull in a half an hour, depending on how quickly you can get strapped down. This is by FAR the cheapest dyno you'll probably ever get. The location is Ferndale. You can find out more about the place here. http://detroitdyno.com/

If you're wondering what the dyno will tell you, it can tell you the Horsepower, Torque, Air/Fuel ratio, general health of your car, or it can give you a baseline if you're thinking about making crazy mods to your car (like me). In a recent dyno session, our own Rod Kubis learned that his Wide Open Throttle switch was not triggering. 30 seconds later we had it fixed and he picked up 19 horsepower!

So if you are interested in getting your car on the dyno, please let me know which day you can make it so I can block enough time for our group.

Stay tuned for further updates.

As an aside, this guy is familiar with P cars as well. One of my coworkers has dynoed two 924 ITA cars there.

PLEASE, someone do the test where you crank the anchoring straps down REAL tight, and then just put them on normal. I suspect we are talking about a 15-20hp problem and variable here.

Wouldn't you know it... I say the word, "Dyno" and the friggen car goes and lets a head gasket go.

After work, I started the car and a big plume of white smoke came out the tail pipe. Smelled sweet too. Went away after a about 5 minutes, but I'm guessing I'm living on borrowed time. The car is in the garage and I'll be performing a leakdown test this weekend to see what's up.

Oil looks fine as does the coolant. I just don't want to hydro-lock the SOB, so it's done for the year.

Sorry to hear the bad news, Andrew. Best wishes for quickly getting it back normal.

Take care,

Andrew
Sounds like a classic head gasket....I guess thats what 9+ psi does to the motor!!

Did the 9psi cause it? It might have finally pushed it over the edge. What probably casued it was running with all that knock for a year before finally pulling back the timing. Not to mention, yesterday we did the fall color tour and flogged the **** out of the cars!

I probably should start a new thread. Thread closed.
