We regularly put piston squirters in the 944 Turbo race engines we built to help cool the pistons. We were having issues with the pistons expanding too much and getting "sticky" in the bores. We had to open up the piston to wall clearance so much that the engines had a tough time sealing the rings when they were cold. They also had incredible piston slap. If the engines got properly warmed up, there was not a problem, but if they got "hot rodded" before everything had a chance to expand.....they were not happy engines.

The squirters allowed us to tighten up the wall clearance a bit, so the engines weren't so funky when cold and kept the pistons from "sticking" in the bores when hot. Worked great!

Oil was not an issue, as these engines were dry sumped. If you are asking the oil to do more cooling, plan on seeing increased oil temperatures.
