OUCH regarding Ken Osage's car! I trust he is OK.
Mark Anderson and Joe Fan had terrible luck with their usually reliable cars. I tried to help figure out what was troubling Joe's car, but after Greg Brown failed to figure it out (by phone), I wasn't really expecting to have any luck. The car had no spark. Greg had Mark and Joe do all the usual checks that could be done. I ran the Spanner and when it finished the LH test, it said "no further ECU response" meaning the EZK was not even detected. We swapped several EZK units with the same result. Jumping various relevant relays and checking ground (as Greg did) did not help. Stumper.
Mark Kibort ran a very good race, holding off the Wardlaw Vette in a tight battle and winning the season championship. Great job, Mark. I got to meet Mark's dad as well, a real nice guy.
It was a beautiful day at the track Saturday!

So, Anderson and Fan didn't even get to run? Oh man, exept for Kibort winning the championship it sounds like a tough day for the 928 contingency. BTW congrats to Mark for a great season. I am looking forward to video from this weekends race.
I am also hugely saddenend by what happened to Ken Osage's car. You always hate to see a 928 go down especially one in such a noble persuit. I hope Ken perserveres and gets another 928 on the track.
So, what was the final placings in the sprint race. Did the vipers rule all?

Here are a few pictures I took in the pits, before the BIG race...
It was great to see four 928 racers there; too bad the other two sharks were ill!
Take a close look at that beautiful blue race shark. I'm deeply saddened to hear it got destroyed. Somehow I felt a bit attached to it... and no, it wasn't because of its charming previous owner, who we met at the same place two years ago.![ooops](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/icon501.gif)
...because all the 928 racers I met are very charming!!!![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

And now some picures from the race. Bill and I stood at the corkscrew and tried our best to capture the action.
There was pretty heavy traffic; both Mark and Scott were under a lot of pressure from behind.
It seems that the rear bumpers of a 928 has some magnetic function, since it appears to work the same on the track and on the freeway...
Congratulations again to Mark!!! And doesn't he have a great support team?

Yeah, Great shots. Great to see you out there Nicole! (Dennis, Bill and the rest!) . So great to see the support for our efforts out at the track!
My race was full of stress, mainly due to the random chance of something happening at any time! This season as taught me a lot about what it takes to win a championship, even if it is in the amature ranks of SCCA. You never know. the vet and me were fighting like cats and dogs all year long. the camaro was beating us both, but breaking on occasion, and the S2000 got the blower in boosting his hp to 330at the rear wheels and started to beat us both. Everyone had their sites on the championship. Scot was solidly headed for a 6th place finish but needed a strong finish this weekend to capture 5th place. His battle with the M3 caused a spin in turn 11 and he was not able to regain his rightful place among the pack.
In Race one, they gridded us incorrectly, and instead of the mightly vet behind me, it was in the BMW's spot next to me. The Seattle based fastest 911 over braked the first turn and the vet shot ahead. Now, all i needed to do was to keep behind the vet to only cut into my championship point lead of 8 points by 4. I had a few chances to make a move but i just couldnt seal the deal.
Now the in the last race Race 2, the grid was correct, but instead of the vet slipping through on the outside of the 1st turn andretti Hair pin, its my buddy Bruce in his hot M3 making the outside move. we go 2 wide through that turn and leading up to the next, and i somehow came out in front. he was close for a while until the Vet started to show its face. Right behind him, the other M3 of David Smith started a charge as well. fortunately, a full course caution came out . on the restart a got a great jump and got a sizable lead from the vet and M3. with one lap to go, the vet was all over me as he passed the M3 for 3rd place. He now was driving the areas of the track where i USED to have an advantage, better than me, AND he has more power. feeling the pressure, i hung on my lines and on the final turn, i went down to protect the inside going up to the finish, the vet quickly changed sides and started his charge , and i cant believe how fast he was coming for only having a 80hp advantage. at the checker, i nosed him out by a few hundreths of a second. What a way to finish the season! We both had a great year, that Vet driver Rob and me, and to be able to hold him off one last time was great. I dont think that will happen at any track again. He and that car are just getting better and better every time we race. The times were inverted. of the 4 of us, i was 1:39.5, 3rd was rob at 1:39.2 , and both the M3s were 1:38.2 and 1:39.2.
Scot ripped off a 1:41.3, his best time, but ended up in the kitty litter near the end of the race. Real bummer for him, as that tossed him out of trophy contention for 5-6th place in the season championship point battle. The mightly camaro had some major run in with a slower car that was out of control and ended up ping-ponging off the walls and ended up gathering up Randy . his car was pretty bad. not quite as bad as Kens, but a lot of off season work will be done to get him back in action.
The viper in the race also ended up spinning and kissing a wall, only to hurt the splitter and his chances of victory. Manny in this viper would have been Joes competition if Joe could have fixed that electrical gremlin that kept his car out of the fun!
The end result was that the old Holbert car won the ITE championship! 93 race days, and the engine still un-opened since it was built in 1996! Unbelievable. I think this is one of the few, if not the only mixed manufacturer road racing championship for the porsche 928. So, whats next??? stay tuned we are doing an event that will make you laugh, in a couple of weeks!
We had a great "Meet the Team" event after the race on Saturday night where SCCA/RDC sponsors the event with a dinner for all. Scot and I had the mic's along with the golden throat announcer of the races, and we had some fun talking about the history of the holbert car, our racing with SCCA , and our grassroots racing efforts.
Well thats it. Hopefully, i can get that new Rennlist stroker engine in by next season and then have something for the Vipers!

Here is a pic of Randy mackintosh and his dad doug examining the carnage. Those guys work too hard to have this kind of thing happen to them. But, they will be back.
Next is Joe Fan badging up my dads old BMW for ITE competition.

wow! Great shots Dennis! Thanks for posting them.
so, whats up with my suspension? I wonder if thats due to my shocks being dead, or just how low my car is to start. I think i have pics of Joe fan's car doing the same thing.

Hmm....it just might be 6 season old "street" shocks & springs showing their age??? Performance Shock at Infineon can rebuild and revalve them for ya...I think its about $65 per shock? Maybe a touch stiffer?

I tried to get some video of the race but unfortunately, the battery ran out after one lap. (yes, I am an idiot) So here is the opening corner of the ITE Festival race:

Mark, I noticed in the second race your running lights were on after the first five laps or so. Was that inadvertant, or was there method to your madness?
