Finally did the mm/opg job last weekend with the help of some friends. It took the 3 of us 8.5 hours start to finish. The job went well, hardest part was puting the lower A arms back on and wrestling in the crossmember! Parts came from Roger, Andrew Olsen gave me some tips on setting up the engine support. Thanks guys! Aeros mirrors are a recent install too. A few local rennlisters even stopped by and said hello on Saturday. Thanks everyone for info and support, couldn't have done it without you.

Nice work space. Any a close up shots of the mounting points on your engine support rig in situ?
Did you go with the Anchor solid mm's? I replaced mine with OEM probably about 5 years ago. They are already starting to crack.

Thanks guys. I used Rogers silicon opg. The old one wasn't leaking yet but came off in chunks and was very brittle. Mounts came from Roger as well. I believe in a past thread Roger stated they weren't Anchor mounts but of the same spec. don't quote me on that. They are solid. If you look close at the mm pic you can see where they were worn through to the metal..
ATB, I used some renshape (similar to wood) and cut a notch to fit the fender lip to support the engine 4x4. It worked great. I hoisted the engine from underneath with a jack to raise the engine before tightening the chain from above. Again, worked well. There are far superior support jobs than this, but it worked for me.

As for the mounts, the anchor ones really are ****. They work but you can find nicer quality ones that are the same spec just made under tighter tolerances. The anchor ones arent finished at all, it looks like they go right from the mold into a box. They dont even remove molding flash. They still work they just look like a $10 part, which they are i guess.

there is one thing to be aware of on this job if you look carefully at the bottom mounting stud of the motor mount after its installed, you want to make sure that the stud is trimmed off a bit so it wont contact the steering rack you should check for this issue as the staud may contact one of the hard lines to the rack, nice job and a great work space

Hi Merlin 8>)
Interesting point you bring up. I had heard of this but when I checked the length of the studs on the MM's I supply they are the same length as the originals. Any particular year you are referring to?? Where they Anchor or supplied by myself?
Great job Ben - the 4X4 works great for those who only do the job once. Very safe if done properly and very cost effective.
I no longer use Anchor because they cannot guarantee solid or hydraulic. My current supplier has a part number for each and when I order solid they come solid.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?
