No puking. No wanting out. No pleas to slow down. She did get a pounding migraine. She does have that illness and takes strong meds for it which mostly put her out for the evening. Had I been the passenger, I'd have puked.

At least overdub some good music.

Next time, I'll try to have a new mount built to get the camera higher up, and yes, pulling the wipers is a good idea.

Adam,
Don't know anything about itunes, don't trust that download music stuff. Still only use CDs.
I guess I want hard back up of the source files and something that'll play in my 10 year
old stereo.

Interested in your thread as i'm doing my first DE Sept 24 at mission raceways in BC....there'll be at least one other 928 there.....gotta try out my new......rotors, brakes, bilstiens, eibachs, tires.....yikes!.....still hunting a weird noise though....like a chunk of bubble gum was stuck on the tire tread.....we've checked everything including snugging the wheel bearings, truing the tires, running the car at 80km on the hoise with stethescope on all rear end parts and the noise only happens when the car is on the ground ....same in neutral or in gear....a rythmic speed senstive tire/pavement noise somewhere on theright side i think.....anyway im hoping it doesnt develp into something which screws up my DE.....any opinions welcome.....i picked the brains at 928 INT.

Tire rub?
Brake rub?
With all the brake and suspension work it sounds like it was created during the work you just performed.
Since the 928 will balance on three wheels, it's simple. Just remove one wheel at a time and drive around the block until the noise goes away. Waallaa!!! You have narrowed it down to the offending corner.

This is all so true. You of all people would know about your car. Was there an actual problem with the booster or master?

The venturi creates a reduced vacuum for the brake booster/HVAC at high throttle angles from airflow through it.
IMO, they're not necessary for US style driving.

At high throttle angles (wide open ) would not the vacuum already be lower in the intake than say if the throttles were snapped shut at 5,000 RPM or idling closed throttle ?

I just want to put it back now if I need it. I didn't think I did, and its probably molecularly swiss cheese anyway. So you are saying it is used as a reservoir for not just the HVAC but also the brakes?

Can't make it...moving into my new house....so Sept is out....I'm hoping to find a day in Oct to get out there! Team racing has several Friday events coming up which work out great for me, since I'm off on Friday.....
However if you are interested in bringing your monster down to TH, be sure to give me a heads up.....I'll come for sure (probably Rich and Charley too)...& we might be able to talk Dennis into instructing for ya!!!
Whats really tempting is a small local track, altamont raceway, is mostly a 1/2 mile oval with a 1/4 mile oval inside it and a bunch of connecting roads...turns into a 1.1 mile road course......you can rent it for a whole mid week day for CHEAP..... split between 4 cars its cheaper than a typical DE and you have the whole track!!

The reservoir is there. The venturi thing is not. Straight manifold vacuum to the booster. It doesn't seem to be a problem of not being able to have enough pedal pressure to stop it. I don't have any problem with it, and I don't really know what his was. I heard him tell the head track guy that the brakes were crap and he couldn't stop and the pedal went to the floor. I've driven enough blasting down the hills around here to know it doesn't do that. Lots of hairpins turns and straights where you really use the brakes if you go fast. The pedal is a little soft, but not much different than other 928s I've driven. If you apply pedal pressure and start the engine the pedal will go down a little more. Continued high pedal pressure will cause a bit more sink so the master may be leaking a little. Still 3 or more inches to go until the floor. No pumping of the pedal required. I will put in a new master before I do anything else and see what that leads to. I've read a lot of the archived threads on soft pedal and some recommended bleeding in reverse. That is do the fronts first. Even using a pressure bleeder to force fluid from the caliper up to the master cylinder bleed screw. Some said to drive the car with the ABS fuse pulled. I'm not sure what that would do. I'll try it all although I don't expect very much to change.

I'm interested. I would like to get my car on the track before winter sets in, but the schedule is pretty thin here. There is a Porsche club event at Pacific Raceways near Seattle in late September, but the Porsche club monkey business makes it not worth the effort.
