Point 1: Oh I see Randy, you call me 'boorish' and I'm the one getting personal?
Point 2: It's not the note, it's the arrogance you show when you pull other people's notes off without (a) warning (b) forethought (c) consideration of your own charter. It's fascistic. And you know what? It's exactly that kind of behavior that builds strong resentment from other people. Maybe you don't care that it happens to be me you censored, but know that when you do it again, to someone else, you'll engender the same feelings of resentment and your "It's my board, and my policy, and I'll break policy when I like" attitude will come back to haunt you Randy.

Obviously we can't rely on you to use your Charter properly.

And by the way, my reputation on the 924, 944 boards is fine, thanks, so your attempt to slur my reputation with the above post is ineffectual.

To all:
My My My, we, for the most part got a little proper, perhaps snippy over some words. Humorous or misguided the post sure stoked the fire. I didn't see any lines drawn in the sand... And!!!
Some good did come of it all.
I liked the idea of a few brews/drinks and some BSing. If I ever hook up with that club out of Austin I plan to explore and plumb the depths of Texas 928 lore and knowledge. Hell, as long as there are a few brews and open hoods involved a person can't help but learn something... Diverse problems, cures, opinions, personalities, hmmm... sounds like a forum to me.
Posters just remember we are all open to flaming arrows. Replies for the most part should not, and have not been hateful, some sharp points and edges maybe but, thats life!
We seem to be less mean and righteous than some of the other forums. It could be that we have fewer members, our sHARKs look for a better class of owner, or, that we are, as superior human beings, more understanding in all respects.
Anyhow, Happy... Turkey,ham,schnitzel,burritto,brisket...day!
Enjoy yourselves but remember if you are going to drink...don't drive your sHARk, drive someone else's car! And please try to keep the board clean and rumor free!
John S and Pattycakes
P.S. The FDA and CDC have documented evidence that sitting in, driving, performing maintenance on, waxing or, even looking at 928 ,Euro, Euro S, S4, GT and GTS models cause everything from Herpes and Hemmeroids to severe Acne and Cancer. Since this is a Nationwide Health Alert of some magnitude. I am forming a special 928 HAZMAT Containment Team which will at little or no cost recover, contain, and properly dispose of the models listed above. Randy, since this is Charity work in the true sense of the word ,please don't consider this spamming. Well I'm off to do God's work!!!
Wish me LUCK.

Ah geesh, give us a break!

Go start a new thread under the topic 'Pointless bickering' take your BS there and allow the rest of us to get on with it in peace.

(John S, this post slotted in after yours but wasn't directed at you.)

Thumbs up

Pierre,
No biggie, even if it was pointed this way... after the wounds heal and the pain goes away from the REAL flammers you realize how lucky you are just to walk around and breath with 'most' of your issued parts. Thanksgiving means a lot more to me these last 20 years.
Hey! Good looking site but what does the 106 cost with shipping? E me at below address to avoid the spam bylaw. I noticed the engine bay thread but there was nothing definitive,,, you have something proprietary and shop only or is there a product sale I missed? You'll just love this!
I thought I was going to have to hand glaze with the 3M but, a vette' owner from work who got fed up with with the mountain of specialty paint products ... cleaners, clay's glazes, chamois, squeeges, and waxes tossed me the remnants of a bottle of Turtle Extreme. It removed the swirls, instantly!
I'm sure a professional such as yourself will blow great-big, holes in my new found happiness. I wax and buff in under 35 minutes
,the finish is so slick that fly's and misquitoes, actually,-I have witnesses ,we howled!- slipped on the hood and roof.
It doesn't appear to be building up anywhere (self stripping?)though, either there is no dead paint or this product doesn't remove it.
If I get past the 'STUPIDS' I'll post some flicks of Pcakes and her finish. Hopefully, before the 'Geezers' clamber into their attack Buicks and assault Oldsmobiles ...is nothing sacredY
BTW did you roll your fenderlips or are they still stock? And I like the fact that the Bully has not been hacked upon!

So...today is Thanksgiving for us in US of A.

I am thankful to be able to sit at my computer and scan the latest info on my beloved car.

However - I woulnd not trade my car for either of my Sons, nor any other member of my family (well, ex-wife excepted

That being said - while I disagree strongly with censorship...enuf is enuf. Let us hope it was the last time. Agree to disagree and get on with our lives and what is important to us here.

I am reminded of the old adage 'screw me once - shame on you, screw me twice - shame on me'.

You get my gist - let us all carry one smartly and enjoy what we have - and to be thankful for.

Now - back to your regular programming.

Dear David,
I am considering therapy but maybe I will survive without. I figured that if I can post 928 part numbers to help my 928 driving collegues out (see clear lights thread) I survive the harmless banter between rival models of Porsches,
Ciao,
Adrian

Adrian,
Do you have the Porsche Part Numbers for the optional rubber Ski-Do treads with idler brackets and drive sprockets? And the over tire Quad Ski front end assembly as well. I have looked everywhere in the U.S. and Canada. I was hoping to send a set to Snow and his refurbished Great White, 81' at Christmas for when they get 'Cabin Fever'.
Make sure it's not that rotating snowshoe model mounted on chains as it has been my experience that there is shoddy workmanship or, Quality Control issues involved. You know... wheel tub clearances just arenn't up to specifications.
Have you been watching old James Bond movies or what. Stay amused, ski the Eichhorn backwards if you must... Just be nice to the pretty Porches. Don't make us turn your name over to The International Prevention of Cruelty to Porches' Society, vicious people that lot! Say, Adrian if you can't find that Porsche Ski-Do Kit could you round up the Swedish Bikini Team and send them to my house ... Snow is, I think, a perfectionist and I would like to weed out the marginal one's. OK, OK if they are busy send the Danish Bikini Team. Have fun, but, stay out of those snowbanks. About those clear lenses now.......

Keep em' rolling - even to therapy-.

There is no question at all that the 928 was a completely clean sheet design...

Unqestionably the truth! However be it very tiny relationship the Pacer and the 928 design have some roots together although the the Pacer's lead degign engineer Richard Teague won awards for the 1973 design of the AMC Pacer after he toured Germany and stole a few idea's for its design from the books of a undisclosed source that was in design by a German automobile manufacturer (I wonder) the following link shows the early
1971 designs by Porsche for the 928.

You can see from the these rendering the 928 was clearly ahead of it time as the 928S4 was already a planned body design before it almost 16years before it made it debut in 1986 for Europe and when Al Hobert made his record breaking flying mile run in August 1986 at the Bonneville Salt flats.

As for Bug, VW Beetle and Porsche 911 being the same- somebody has a giant sized Alaskan King crab crammed up his azz!

Cool

...giant-sized Alaskan king crab up his azz?

If he didn't need therapy beforehand he'd need it afterwards...

911 parts? yeah, maybe that ugly-*** steering wheel.
Hello!

How can you possibly think that the 1980 and beyond 4 spoke wheel with with that huge honking horn pad in the middle is better looking than than a classic 3 spoke wheel on the 78-79 928's.

Them 4 spokers are as ugly as the one in my wifes 740 Volvo. I see more aftermarket 3 spoke Momo wheels on MY 80+ cars than i do in '78-79 cars.

they're both ugly as hell, as much as these cars cost new porsche should have done a lot better. i must admit i love the 930S wheel.

i have a 3 spoke Momo Champion in both my cars, much better than the stock wheel.

I beleive the front lights on the 928 were taken from the lamborghini miaura? It was to help people wash the lights in a car wash. You can totally see that the lights came from the Lambo, if the lambo was designed in the late 60s (was it?).

Prdtrs post puts an end to the 928/pacer dispute, because as shown, 1971 was first, porsche. then in 1973, came the pacer. After all that, the 928 still does look NEWER than the pacer, and I think that is where people get the cars mixed. If you see a new looking car (928), and an old looking pacer, you assume the pacer came first...but actually the 928 came first in 1971...this is a chronolgical/logical error in our brains which causes us to THINK the 928 came from the pacers...

As for the 924 being a VW design, are we sure? How do we know it wasn't just VWs design, and porsche wasn't at all designing ir for VW? I have read that VW originally THINKING about the engine for a VW project...VW and VW, no porsche....I won't go into the rest but can anyone for sure say that porsche was making the engine for a VW project...my research shows that VW was making it for VWs, and THEN yada yada, a bunch of stuff happened that I won't go into, THEN porsche bought them.

I know for sure the porsche 924 engine did not come FROM the audi 100LS/5000 which is stated in many books. The engine in the 100LS/5000 was ONLY available in 1977-1979. THe porsche 924 first came out in 1976, so the 924 did not get it's engine FROM the Audi 100LS/5000 (source: collection of factory 1970's audi manuals, thanx to my audi gurus who photocopied them and sent to me)

I also have reason to believe the engine did not come FROM a VW van/postal vehicle, because I beleive those were only available in 1977 also. That one I am not sure about though like I am the audi 100 engine.

Do not forget guys that the 928 was the only Porsche at the factory turned into a station wagon, for Ferrys birthday. I have seen a 928 turned into a pickup in Denmark. As far as the parts requested. I am afraid I do not have the USA/Canada TEquipment catalogue only the ROW version and this only contains the 928 to submarine conversion kit (copied from Lotus). As for the Swedish Bikini team, they are visitng me first, join the queue,
Ciao,
Adrian
