My next door neighbor has a 6.0 GTO, he came looking for me on a two lane highway on-ramp one day. He pulled barely ahead of me until we hit about 80 mph. Then I started to gain ground. He came by the next day and apologized. Said that he was on the internet to find out what motor a 928 has. I have an '86 with reworked heads and chips. I walked away from my buddy's '91 S4 Auto with it.

I tangled with one yesterday. I thought maybe it was one of the new (G8 6.0s), which have only 361CHP, but after a little more searching, I realized it was a (GTO w/LS2), which made me feel even better.

Fellow could not shake me, and was slowly pulling away until he had to shift (evidenced by a puff of black from one exhaust tip, and a puff of blue(!) from the other), whereupon I started reeling him in. They have 3.46 final drives, versus my 2.20, which at that speed would be when my power band would be kickin' in.

The car and/or the fellow can't corner. He braked into a 55 corner, which went into a tunnel, and merged into one lane from two. I almost passed him on the outside, as he rudely switched into the inside lane for the corner.

All in all it was the capper on a great tank of Super, after keeping up with new 911s on a PCA fun run over the weekend. '86.5 rooolzzz!

I'm starting to see the disadvantage of having an auto though, having to work through the power band all the time. I need a looser torque converter, and/or a 5-spd car (too).

I ran a thread on the Cayenne forum. Had a run in with an 06 GTO with modified exhaust and the Cayenne turbo dusted him. He was left quite a distance behind. I know my GTS is about the same as the Cayenne turbo and after a fun run with Mike Frye, his 85 with 212k miles proved to be quite fast. I had to work hard to pull from him and then it wasn't to much ground although I had a passenger and he didn't. Says a lot for all 928's, yours must be rather quick with all the work you have done.
