Charley, thanks for the invite, unfortunately didnt catch it in time. I will try to do a better job of staying in tune with this forum.
I found a unused 1988 manual tranny from 928 Intl (thanks to mark anderson). I had heard from many that the vehicle is a beast in manual so decided to go for it. Before the change I had considered parting with the vehicle but now, i dont think i ever will. Its a completely different car.
I highly recommend HiTec, they are organized, professional, and very knowledgable with the 928 specifically. If you have a 928 in central marin, they are a good shop.
I should also mention another great 928 shop, namely Bill Ravina tel: 415 883 4656 (Ignacio Motorsports)
56H Hamilton Drive, Novato, CA 94949
Bill is not quite as convenient to me as HiTec (2 minutes from my ofc), but i had him do some work and he is also extremely professional and knowledgable on the shark.

For electrical glitches I highly recommend Larry's Auto Electric in Oakley, East Bay- had tail lights that did not work due to a R front short, then after the last Sharks in The park my horn went off randomly due to a short behind the fuse and relay box- Larry diagnosed and fixed within a day His phone #

I want to second what Mike said about Larry's Auto Electric. The 928 electrics often stump the best of them, but Larry seems unfazed by the CE panel and relays on-top of relays.
Semi, thanks for the other shop recommendation. I'm sure there are more out there. Oh, and I hope you are on our mail list for Norcal events. Send me a note with your email address and I'll check. I sent out an email announcement of last night's event about a week beforehand. Unfortunately, spam filters often segregate mass mailings.

Sorry I missed last nites get together- life here is UNspontaneous and I need ages of notification-
Cannot see a 928 substitute on the horizon-good to have shops for some of the work.

For those of us in the central valley..... Eurotrends in Ceres does a good job.... The owner Keith Waterman is a long time PCA supporter and knows quite a bit about 928's..... If I didn't do my own work, thats where I would take mine (of course Bills garage is the #1 choice)

yes, chasing down those hard to fix electrical issues is also what CT Automotive is good for. I remember i had no tach and that darn Flappy issue that i couldnt track down when i first got the holbert car. not to mention the willingness to install headers on street cars and bend the rules a little
