Default best carpet sources

I have an 86.5 MY. Like many owners, I need the traffic area carpets. These would include the driver and passenger side floor carpets and the rear deck carpet. Who would be the best source?

for bulk carpet, tehre is a guy selling on Ebay now for $42.5 per yard. Thats pretty good for OE Sliverknit. I was considering it but I will just pop for an entire kit from the 928 Leather shop, which i guess is Rob Budd.... I think.

If you want the floor carpets and the trunk to look better, I would suggest getting a lloyd mat set and one of their trunk mats.

I'm putting carpet in my '85 this weekend. I've got a used set from the complete '87 interior I picked up in January. It's a pain in the *** even with all of the holes pre-cut. I wouldn't want to try this with bulk carpet.

I've done 4 versions of 928 carpet kits so far.

1. Sliverknit, Original factory material. Kit is $599.
2. German velour. A tighter weave, shorter cut pile carpet. Looks great hold up very well. Used in Mercedes vehicles. Kit is $699. Limited color selection
3. English Wilton Wool. A bit longer pile than German velour, but not as long as Sliverknit, Tighter weave than Sliverknit. Kit is $749. A luxurious carpet. Limited color selection
4. Domestic nylon cut pile carpet. Black or beige only, Slightly shorter pile. Wears extremely well. Looks like Sliverknit. $349.

Rob, can you post some pictures of the German Velour and English Wilton? Are either of these available in Cashmere, or possibly champagne? If not then i guess I am sticking with Sliverknit, but i would love to see the other options.

Knowing that the carpet is old, the pads underneath are too and probably should be replaced at the same time. Any recommendations as to what should gto under new carpeting? I think the interior of my '83 is due for some attention. All tips appreciated.
Thanks,

Pictures probably won't show much at all but I'll try some close ups of the material.
The colors available in German Velour are Mercedes colors only. In English Wilton Wool are the Mercedes, Rolls Royce and Jaguar colors. Some of the colors come close to the Sliverknit colors but none are an exact match.
You can see the colors here

I'm using blue German Velour in my own car.
Black Wilton Wool I is a popular choice for replacing the black Sliverknit and of course the domestic black for economy.
Wilton Wool II is too thick for some of the 928 panels so in our kit we've combined Wilton Wool I for curved and angled surfaces and Wilton Wool II for the flat areas.

Here's a close up shot of the three carpet types
Sliverknit on the bottom
German Velour in the middle(blue)
English Wilton I wool on the top

Some observations. You can see Sliverknit is the thickest, but both of the others have a denser weave.
The Wilton has the thickest backing, followed by the German Velour. The Sliverknit has very little backing and is very pliable.
If you hold Sliverknit up to the light, you can see through it.
They are all soft to the touch. The German velour and Wilton Wool have a more plush feel due to the tighter weave.
A crude weight experiment with a piece of carpet the same size showed the WW and German velour weighed 1/3 more than the Sliverknit.
All of them look good.

Some of us would need the bulk material because we will not have the "holes" where the normal holes are, and the padding removed ot put in different shapes. I bought some at a fabric store, but after using it on the doors, it just seems too thin, and too weak.
