Do belt tensioners "burp" after filling?

I think I've seen folks mention this before, but is it normal for tensioners to spit out a little fluid after refilling?
I've got a spot on the floor under my tensioner after running the shark to operating temps last night. It was nearly full when I checked a few weeks ago (during the repair) and topped it off. Now it looks to have spit some of that back out.
Just wondering if others have had the same experience.

Dave,
I don't think I've ever seen anything about this. I imagine it's more likely that you're leaking dude. I know mine leaks after the R&R, and I've read of many others who have leaky tensioners too. Where would it 'burp' from? Once you get the fill and bleed screws tightened down, it's a closed (supposedly) system, isn't it?

I probably have a loose bleed screw. I noticed it was moist around there. Time to top it off again and tighten it down.

Dave:
I have had that experience...I had probbaly more than topped it off though and the excess oil after expanding came out the mouth of the rubber boot especially after the engine warmed up. I've checked it since that time and all is well.
I'd double check that you don't have oil escaping along the gasket or any of the bolts, including the tensioner adjustment bolt. I put just a little RTV sealant on all of them during my install.
Glad you are up and running and I hope that you find that you just overfilled. As you know a little bit of oil can make a huge mess.
Good Luck.
Ken

try adding a bit of thread sealant to the threaded portion of the bleeders to fill it I use a old Visene bottle with the tip drilled out slightly bigger than the drip hole the tip can be removed and fill the bottle with your favorite oil (I think that thicker oil is better thats me), Remove both of the bleeders and fill the from the bleeder that is closest to the passenger side or furthest from the crank, fill it till you see a steady stream of oil it will have a few bubbles in it till its full. then refit the bleeders and tighten them also you may want to check the 4 bolts that hold the tensioner to the block them may need a snugging since things have gone through a few heat cycles.. WARNING if you have to pressurise the fill hole from the bottle stop, you will eventually pop off the inner seal ring on the rubber bellows and then the tensioner will need to be removed to refit this clamp ring

I n my experience, it's common for oil to seep out the boot end after running the car the first time. One of the tensioner bolts (14a in the WSM diagram) should have sealant on it.
