Sell the S4 for a 96 993 TT?

I've not driven an automobile with a worse shifter than a 911 with 915 gearbox. The shift arm is well over a foot in length from the floor up, and shifting is a guessing game. And synchros are horribly slow. Also, an early 944 has pretty bad shifting (not nearly as bad) ... I imagine an early 928 may share that but I don't know. My S4 is great to shift, if a tad slow compared to Japanese cars I've driven. I drove an Audi TT and it shifted very similarly to the S4.

I test drove several 993TT's and was thinking of buying one for 2 years until I finally decided on my 94 turbo. At the time the 94 was cheaper than a 993TT but that is not what made up my mind. Now the market is all screwy and the 94's are bringing more money than the TT's.
The 993TT is a great car. The power is great and the all wheel drive is nice. IMO it doesn't belong on a sports car. The 94 rear wheel drive and single turbo has got to be one of the most exhilarating Porsche's you can drive. With 48 less HP stock it is equally as fast as a stock TT and so much more fun to drive. I never liked the looks of the 993TT especially the tail although the '97 TT S looks great IMO. Slight mods to the 94 and it becomes scary fast. I also think it is the best looking and driving 911 ever made, but that is just my opinion. Besides other than the all wheel drive system and the rear suspension change the 993 and 964 are basically the same car.
Regarding the 993TT compared to my GTS 5 speed they are two very different cars and I think the GTS with the 94 makes for a better contrast than the 993TT which is more GTish than my 94. Regarding the interiors they are plain but only date back to the late 70's and can be spruced up, but you aren't looking at the interior when blasting down the road anyhow just the tach is all you will have time to see. The GTS is a great car but unless you make drastic changes to it, it will never beat a 911 turbo. It is powerful and can handle well but when you start reaching speeds of 120 on twisty roads (not that I would ever do such a thing ) the GTS just can't keep up even with upgraded springs shocks and sways the car will float and the PSD is working constantly. The turbo on a back road is a heavenly experience as is the GTS on an open stretch of highway. The turbo on the highway is a boring and a bit of work. Ironically the pros of the GTS are the cons of the turbo and the pros of the turbo are the cons of the GTS.
So after these words I will leave you with nothing of value other than keep the S4 and buy the TT you won't regret it and you will have fun no matter what you decide to drive.

Don't throw a 964 Turbo in the mix !
If that is your car in the avatar, I love it!
And Blue is my favorite color (for pretty much everything)
Be back, gonna go check what 964 T's are available (not kidding)

The 993TT is a great car but I would not trade my 94 T for a 993TT not even an S.
