This is a tough call for Chris...... Both are great cars with unique driving experiences.....I would guess that the 993TT is more similar to his 348 GTS (but much faster)....vs the more GT nature of the 928.....

So chris sells his pristine 928 to someone who is VERY lucky.....then drives the 993TT for a little while....gets tired of it....turns it for a profit and buys a GTS......thats the ticket!!

How do you make the 928 more sporty and the sporty more 928? Skip the 993TT sell the 348 & 928 and then buy a Ferrari 550

If it were me and I knew what I had in the 928 as far as maintence goes I would skip the 993 buy Tim's Super Charger set up drop in some new wheels and tires. Add the X pipe and the RMB and you will have a 400 hp wheel HP and allot of fun. You will have some good ole German Muscle.

Loving my Murf Car more and more every day.

Thank you all for the input, Dr Bob, Iceman, all of you.

This decision is killin me. I don't want to let loose of the 928.
Not to sound rude, but the 928 and the 348 are near perfect examples of each car. Both just had major service and an open check book for both to get them perfect.
They are both as perfect as they can be.

The idea of moving the 928 and 348 for a 550 never even crossed my mind.
And to be honest, it is a good idea, but not my cup of tea.

I am going to think about this a little longer......

more input please...I am weak minded right now

Why does this stuff always end up on my lap?

Chris
Did you ever sell the 912? Sell that FIRST......then worry about the others......

I would say sell the 348, buy the 993TT & keep the 928......I gotta think that the cost per mile to drive of the 993TT and 928 is WAY less than the 348...granted yours is in great shape, but you know how F-cars are...one little thing is $5K+...but F-cars are just SO cool......I really do like the 550-575-599....those are wicked.....

I would call dibs on your 928......but of course I am broke...plus I just bought a house...so no new cars for at least a year :>( or as soon as I get approval from the "boss"

Might as well try to sell the 928......try craigslist & here, since they both a free......because we all know if the price is right anything is for sale.....even mine! :>)

If it was me I would figure out how and where I DRIVE, if its lots of long trips, probably go with the 928 it just has longer legs and a more comfortable crotch..... OTOH ....if your doing lots of short trips or mountain blasts and wont be doing this every day maybe up on the early part of a sat or sunday morning, then the TT might really fill your plate, its a cozy capsule, (IE small), and you will feel the difference after a 8 hour drive. Now as far as a the money you spent refurbishing your machines , it will be difficult to recoupe your original cash outlay, of course you will get a premium for having a very LO milage car that is probably one of the finer examples around, less people will pay attention when you pull up in the 928 as opposed to the TT , but what is the F car doing ? The best solution would be to borrow the TT and have a lease to buy, and hopefully the TTurbos are not ready to be rebuilt , so you will have some life from the engine . This is a hard decision , all the cars look to wonderful. Goodluck

The 912 Sold in 48 hours. The 348 is not going anywhere, I love that car. It's a real treat to drive, and puts a huge smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel.

Might be listing the 928 this week, by the looks of it. Heck, maybe not, I'll drive it to work a few days and forget about selling it.

All my drives are usually short. The shows are less than 40 minutes away.
Work is about an hour.

If the cars are bought right, recouping is not a problem

Life is short, get the 993 TT and enjoy it. The one he has is a must have for many Porsche lovers and is the right color, IMHO. They are rare and not many will have the chance to own one. Then as another already said, sell it when your ready and buy a 928 GTS. The 993 TT will hold it's value very well, especially if you keep the miles down and keep it up.

Why not experience as many cars as you can?

Cheers,
Constantine

If you've got the cash, do it. That's a gorgeous car and frankly, the 928, as much as I love it, would play 2nd fiddle if I could afford the 993 TT.

Ha ha. I keep doing that with my '85. Have it for sale, but every time I drive, I think "Why the hell am I selling this car? I love it!"

But good luck with your decision. You're good to go either way, but you gotta buy the turbo - because you can. -Ed

F-cars will do that.....its just the after the repairs!!

Even after our discussions about the 355's....I still can't wait to drive my friends 99 F1 convertible!

Another consideration is really how inexpensive the 928 is.....sure it cost a pretty penny to get it to the condition it is in today, but that $$ is already spent....but in a "total" $$$ sense.....you have a sweet ride with great reliability for VERY cheap......vs the $$$ you get selling it....say you get a good price....in reality that good price is about the same as a new Honda Civic.....

I still vote for drive the 928 to your friends place.....drive the 993TT....assuming you still want it....take it to Greg for a PPI......if it checks out.....then go for it....in a little while....you'll be able to find another nice 928...BUT it will cost you a lot more than what you have in your 928...

Also if you are gonna sell the 928, consider getting a nice pro level detail done....Moe on the concours forum is local to LA and does excellent work...or anyone the Eugenio recommends would be fine.....not that it needs it....but it just makes the pictures "pop" that much more on the ad....
