The biggest shock of my life came when I hit 40 and realized that I was probably going to live! I got my first 928 ('82 model) in 1984. I have since owned a '80 and '81 model, all 5 speeds. Current 928 is a '87S4 daily driver - my first automatic. Have never driven any other model Porsche and don't know anything about them. The 928 has always been my dream car. I am 48.

'fraid not, I'm nearly 61. You lot make me feel so old. But I'm just a young hooligan at heart !
In the UK, I would say the age distrbution of the 928 fraterity is much the same as US.

I'll try to raise the bar a little. Just turned 67.
A little Porsche history: First new car 1956 Speedster. Never liked the 911s. Next Porsche: 1982 928 weissach (SP). And then 1988 5 speed, now Jims car.
And since I am too old to learn: The 1991 GT engine fire car. (Jim's old car). Complete repaint almost done, now on to the wiring and engine.

Hey John,
We've got the same B-Day, I'll be 35 on the 27th. Trivial note: We happen to share our birthday with a couple of all-time greats:
Jimi Hendrix
Bruce Lee
Not bad company to hang with!
P.S. Does Risky Business have anything to do with why so many 30 somethings are into 928's? Methinks it doth play a part!

No, I think that the 30 something guys have 928's
becuse of the price - a nice 928 is in the teens,
911's are in the 40-to60's. But I love the 28's
Much more, besides the 928 is much more car for
the money!

I'm 40....got my 928 just a three weeks after hitting it. If you ask my wife and friends they say it's a midlife crisis.... I say it's the fulfillment of a lifelong dream....

I just turned 39 a few days ago. According to my Mom I will be 39 next year as well. I sad, "Mom, I was 38 and now I'm 39, so I will be 40 next year." She said, "No you will be 39....Just like your brothers and sisters." Mom said that Jack Benny turned 39 every year, so I should as well. Mom also claims she is.....39.
I bought my first 928 when I was 36. I was gearing up for the mid-life crisis that I was told I would have when I turned.....39. Mom told me that.

Well, judging by these posts I'm older than any of you in years, which means I compiled more miles behind the wheel than all of you combined. And to prove it I'll dust off any comer's cause I've driven them all in just about every situation you can imagine. And that's why I own a 928!
Our PCA group has bunches of old guys like me and you couldn't meet a nicer group. Engineer types to a large degree that admire all the variations of the marque. Especially the 928. The mechanically inclined don't work the 928 because they are much more technically difficult than their 911's. Don't give up on the PCA, they do a lot for all Porsche owners, including 928's. All you really need to do to gain their respect is drive the doors off them. But don't be fooled these old farts can drive like the wind.
If you really want to learn how to get the most out of your 928 the PCA can teach you plenty. See you at the track . . . and that 928 in front of you with the geazer at the wheel, that's me.

I think Bill Hapke has us all beat. I should only hope to be that active when i retire.....
I'm 39 and when I go to 928 events I still feel like the youngest guy there. I need to grow up.

32, opps I am in 928 land, sorry 911 guy. But with that said, I use to not like 928's, but after reading and seeing more of them close up, wow what beautiful cars (not that any of you care what I say). If what I read about these 928's here is true, wow; they are some car. I haven't gotten to drive in one yet but do look forward to it. I've done the 928 Turbo and 912 thing, also fun cars. I think the only downfall that I might have with the 928 is the complexity of the engine and the spacing under the hood, same with 944 Turbo. Am I correct to say that they are more difficult to work on in general than mid 70's, 78 - 83 SC's and Carrera's of the mid 80's. Let me know and good luck to all of you with your "Sharks". Take care.

28, got my Shark at 27. Rode in my first 928 at age 15. Have been in love with the 928 since I was 10. My parents were pretty liberal when it came to watching movies. Saw Risky Business on cable. Was in love from that day on.

38 going on 20. I mutter at the boy racers weaving through traffic on I-5, and on the track I mutter at slow pokes.
I suppose my PCA region has a few sticks in the mud, but most of the folks I've met are good folks. Maybe older, but still young at heart. Maybe that's because the events I attend are mostly DE and autocross.
