John,

I KNEW I had seen you before SITO. Now I remember the Drug Awareness courses we had to attend in the USAF. Weren't you their poster boy?

BTW I have added a 931 to my stable.

I got my first (and still current) 1984 928S when I was 25. I am now 29 and stil have her. Been a rough 4 years but I look foreward to 40 more with it (and hopefull a few others). It looks as though we are all aging together. Our cars are aging, we are aging, and the ricers seem to be getting younger. I think that is a fair trade. With age comes appreciation and maturity. I know that I appreciate my car for the work of engineering art that it is. I also appreciate you guys, the 928 community that makes it such a wonderful experience. I would love to attend more get-togethers.

Anyone up for a Houston or Dallas thingy? How can we organize something like this? Any ideas or suggestions?

Dennis,
I cleaned up, chemically speaking, when I took-up Motocrossing 2 years prior to enlisting in the 'green machine'. Extreme focus was required as I went from jack-pineing on a old Honda 305 to a open class Maico 400 overnight.
Steep learning curve there...
I have pictures of myself 20 plus feet off the ground ... and climbing on a ballastic arc.
Unintentional! The Maico had my back.
When I PCS'd to Oahu, I had the Senior QC NCOIC
stop me in the hanger after lunch one day because I looked funny...Turned out I was the only guy who hadn't slammed five drinks at lunch or torched a California Hooter. In effect. I was the only sober guy out of 165 officers and enlisted.
Didn't do much flying in Hawaii if you know what I mean.
Got flicks of the newly aquired?
BTW
Grew a ponytail since SITO.

When I get my 55 y/o butt in the seat of my '84 928S, there are lots of good reasons to stay there. Being unable to get out is just one of them

Hey Viribus

you gots it all wrong mon.

“In this country, you gotta make da money first…then when you get da money, you get the powa…then when you get the powa ,then you get the woman.”
......uh..then you gets da 928.

Ya know, Tony was looking at a 928 at the dealership in the movie!

Just turned 33...

But I have to disagree on the insurance. I think you guys may be going to the big insurance companies. And you may have paid your premiums for so long, they figure you will keep paying them. They aren't going to reduce the rates just to be nice. You have to shop around. I think I will open a new thread, so we can all compare insurance companies...

I'd be happy to send my Weissach off to meet its sister at Saint John's Home for the Aged and Wayward 928's, but I'm waiting for Saint John's Cash Grants for Families of 928s to approve my application

First 928, an 86.5 at 30. Second shark, an 87 S4 at 30.5. Now at 31.

John,
I started racing SX and MX at 29. Having never riden a MX bike before 28 I still took home a few trophies. Now at 31 I am old and washed up. Man the S4 is a much better ride than the RM125.

OK, Susan, so will that make you 39 or 41?

I'm 3 years passed 40 and only recently became a 928 owner. In fact I bought it on my birthday last February. Not long out of a divorce, and with kids' college around the corner, it was one of the stupidist things I think I coulda done--but doggoneit has it been fun!

Cool

I've got you all beaten: 59 and having trouble remembering how many Porsches I've owned. Let's see...my first was a 356B Super coupe @ 21. Then a '66 911 (great car !!) Next a '57 Speedster with modified S90+ engine (maybe the most fun of all of them) Next came a '71 911E which lasted 2 weeks 'til a drunken judge smashed into the back of it and the insurance co. bought me another one.(I don't know why I bought the E when an RS ltwt. was only about $1000 more )
Then a lull for 10 years without a car to find out how the rest of the world lived: took
the bus and BART !! Finally needed another car 'cause taxis were too slow, and bought a transportation special, a '70 914/6
I enjoyed that car until some jerk decided to run a red light even though I was stopped between him and the light. Then I got tired of fighting with the insurance co. and driving my Rabbit and visited Devek. Big mistake 'cause I caught 928 fever in a bad way !! Now I have both the 914/6 and my 928, and am trying to find a nursery that sells money trees Great car. May keep it forever, like my six. What I haven't been able to figure out after all of this though is why does the rest of the world want to poke along in the left lane?? I would beat this addiction by going to a shrink, but I knew a shrink in high school and he had a Porsche, which may be why this all started in the first place

Funny thread! I'll try to bring the average up a little bit...55 this year. I'd feel a little depressed about this but then I think of all you young pup's having to go work in the morning (retired from Bell Labs/Lucent 3 yrs ago).

Bought my first ever Porsche 2 yrs ago, an '82 928 5 spd that has since passed to my son and now have an '88 5 spd ("Earl's Car"). I LOVE these cars and believe you should lavish the attention they deserve on them and then "drive it like you stole it". I think I've put 10,000 miles on the '88 since buying it in July.

John S,
I had a couple of open class Maicos too. A '78 400 and '82 490. I wish I still had the 490.
