Default SCCA ITE RACE at Thunderhill this weekend 7-15-07

All the usual players will be there. The 500hp vet and camaros, S2000s, bmws and a couple of 928s!!! Scot is going.

I will be starting in the back missing qualifying on saturday, so im going just to get points, as the Vet and I are near tied for the championship this season. Im taking a risk that I will have an advantage at sears point and Laguna, but it will make the season that much more exciting!

I will be driving the car to and from the track again to save on gas and time!

Ill let you know how scot and I do late sunday. Race time is at 12:45 and it should be near 100 degrees this weekend!

Scot has qualified 4th with a 2:04.1. Not bad. looks like he has a good battle with a few cars close in time.

I should be there in plenty of time to unload the car and get to the back of the grid for tomorrow's race if i leave at 8am

scot qualified 4th, i started at the back. camaro 525hp on front row with 490hp vet, second row, supercharged S2000 with scot in the 5 liter 928 hybrid.

total cluster-xxxx in the pre grid, everyone is late, they start pointing folks to the grid. if you are ready, you get to go. screwed up qualifying for everyone. (except me, but i was late too, but i was able to pick up a few spots that would have taken some time, plus now the vet is just one car in front of me. (he is really pissed!)

green flag, and its pass fest, i get a great jump on about 6 cars on the inside while the vet gets stopped up. one of those lucky breaks. as it turns out, he seems faster, but our times turn out to be 3 one thousands off from one another! both of us, 2:02.8. anway, we catch up to scot, the S2000 now with a blower, passes us toward the middle of the race, where we then have a caution lap, he later reels in the camaro and they pass each other several times for a few of the last laps. the S2000 blower ends up winning. (Congrats Rylan) . His buddie in another blower S2000 was also pretty fast and scot actually was ahead of him and finished 3rd, while i caught up to scot, but wasnt able to really pull off a safe pass, plus i was only there to do some testing as the car has been running a little funny lately (down on power), so i didnt push hard on scot. he actually pointed me by, but i wasnt going to pass him that way! Now the bad news, scot gets caught passing under the full course caution, and is penalized 3 places. Big deal, scot runs a 2:03xx and really earned a 3th place finish (Great job Scot), but he ends up with 18 points instead of 24points.

a great one day of racing. drove up early, unpacked , didnt even turn a wrench, and got a bunch of laps in the 95 degree heat.

Now im wondering, where some of my power has gone. sure, some of it got lost in the heat, but on the way home i did about 50, 60-100mph runs all the way home where the temps dropped to about 75degrees. still seems to be about .5 seconds slower. can cam timing move??? it kind of sounds like it did before i fixed the cam timing a couple of years ago. ????? time for a tune up, cam timing check and a few dyno runs.

Next race, Labor day weekend for the double regional at Sears Point.

nice result for Scott.....it sure didn't take the S2000 long to fix his motor since he smoked last time at Thunderhill!!

actually, he was messing around with the blower then, and was having some issues. when he missed the shift and over-reved the engine, he just left and went home. Turns out he is down 25hp, due to a bent valve that will be fixed by the Sears Point event. 325rwhp!! and he is using a real large pulley.
75 lbs adder, he is up to 2550lbs with driver now.
