Default Small World 88 S4 for sale

I am attending a Dale Carnegie training class in Potomac MD and as with most management classes, the instructor goes around the room for introductions and he asked for each person to tell the class something unique about themselves. Well I got up and told the class that I drive a 928. The instructor then asked do I want to buy one? It so happens that the instructor has a gray with grey interior AT 88 S4 with 65K miles for sale in the Maryland area. He said the car is immaculate and all maintenance was done. He said that he just had the 65K maintenance done and all belts were replaced. He is selling it because he doesn't have time to drive the car. He had it since 1992, and is asking book value and he mentioned $14K.

I have his business card and he told me that it was OK to post his number and email if anyone is interested.

Did the class know what a 928 was?

I HATE when I tell strangers that I drive a 928, and they say, "yeah, me too".

I had something like this happen just last Saturday. Went to the local gas station to pick up some pop and ice and sure enough there was a nice early 90’s 911 convertible getting fuel at one of the pumps. I get to the front of the line and the attendant, in his late teens, asked me if it was my Porsche. As a reflex I said “No, mine is in the garage getting fixed” and it is, but I realized a moment later that it sounded so cheesy. He did gave me the “yeah right” look. Oh well, next time I won’t say anything.

Yep, just when you think...

A couple weeks ago, I took a work colleague out to lunch on a day when I'd driven the OB to work. He kindly inquired about the car, noting that he'd never seen one. I gave him the stats about how only 50,000 were ever made and that many were European.

"Nope, you almost never see these cars these days..."

We pull into the restaurant parking lot and park.
Right next to a 1980 928.
