Default 42# Injectors - Which ones?

I'm looking to get some 42# injectors. Can anyone tell deffinitively which ones I should get from Summit Racing?

They have this "Summit Brand" for $299 for a set of 8.

Or I could get this "Ford Racing" set for $399.

Thanks for the help.

Whoa! Just noticed the dimensions are different for these. Looks like I won't save the $100 afterall.

Silly Andrew, You should know by now that if it's cheaper, it's the wrong part.

Well the Summit units are “GM” style and the Ford are the “Bosch” style. Just because they look different, it doesn’t mean that the top and bottom diameter and the overall lengths is different. The Gen III & IV injectors look different too but from what I understand they physically fit into the factory rail. The electrical connector needs to be changed, but other than that they are a direct fit so this might be the same with the GM units. What you need to be sure of, besides the vital dimensions, is if they are the same impedance as the OEM injectors.

DR told me to get the "11-14 ohm" set but I think he meant the 11-18. I'm pretty sure the Ford Racing set is what other use. Pretty interesting that they give zero warranty. Hmm. Maybe I should check ebay. Bet I can save $50+!

Thanks Bill and others. Abby is going to sell me a set he recently purchased but cannot use. The price is definitely right.

FYI stock should be around 14.5, but the spec has a wide range. I think as long as they don't vary much from one to another, you're fine in that range.

Andrew,

New does not equal balanced. If the car doesn't run right with them in, send them out to get calibrated.

Adam-
I beleive it is a myth that injectors can be tuned or balanced. To my knowledge, you can only clean them to achive optimal flow.

AFAIK, the only way to get a flow matched set is to start with a larger pool of injectors and then select ones that have the same flow characteristics. However at the price that I'm getting these, if I had to buy an additional 2-3 injectors, I'd still be ahead of the game.

I read that somewhere too. You might need to get more than 2-3 extra though. Maybe check with a company that does the injector balancing and see how many spares you'd need for a good flow match?
