85-86 Fuel Pressure Regulator output
Anyone know the max output PSI that the 85-86 FPR will give? I know there is a PSI range from Idle to WOT, but I've never seen it.

Hi Darien
Fuel pressure at idle approx 29psi.
Fuel pressure with engine stopped and fuel pump relay bridged 36psi +/- 3psi.
(be very careful to get the correct pins to bridge or you can damage the LH ECU)

John I see about 31-32 PSI at idle (86.5 engine) and almost 40PSI when off
at idle I pull 23 in HG vacuum, with 13.4:1 AFR when warm, and 28 deg advance

Great to have your real world figures. I was just quoting from the WS manual...
The two sets tally pretty well :-)
Also thanks for the inlet in Hg figure - that's very useful as we are working on the SharkTuner for the EZF ignition ECU for the 85/86 cars. That unit contains a MAP sensor which determines igntion advance wrt inlet vaccuum.

Hello Darien,
It will run max fuel pressure with no vacuum (same as max load WOT).
So at idle, just pull off the vac feed to the FPR and you will have your answer.

The S4 uses 19# injectors against the 24# used on the 85/86 cars.
They then needed to run higher than rated fuel pressure on the injectors because they could barely get them to support the power the later engine make.
Even then, S4/GT/GTS injectors are running at 100% at max power.

Only if they are going to increase the power output by more than a few %. The standard system is on its limit.
A RRFFR is a quick way to match a small increase in power - say with an X pipe.
A SharkTune session will get the best out of any 928.

John,
I havent had a chance to measure vacuum with the factory LH/EZF, as you can tell from my first post I am running the car with 28 deg of advance at idle, cant really do that with the stock computers.

Is that WOT FP?
Still looking for someone that might know how much FP I could get with the stock FPR. If it's between 60-70, I'll be alright. I also have the 044 fuel pump installed, but I don't think that will change the end rsult?
