lil off topic, but I have to confess my ignorance.

I didn't even know that mine had a TPS. 6 months of trouble shooting crap and no one mentioned a TPS as an issue.

God I love my father, he told me to check it and I just need to find out where it is located.

Oh, sorry Brendan, I hope it sells for ya. And this gives you a bump.

SeanR:

You can test the throttle switch remotely. In fact, you can test most of the fuel injection and ignition system with a multimeter and the pages from WSM and other guides available on Jim Morehouse's CDs. If you had them, you would probably have found your problem already. Here's the pages on the throttle switch.

Just make sure the digital meter is GOOD and has FRESH batteries. I was getting VERY weird values when I was testing various things, and found bad batteries even though it was acting normal otherwise. I think the power needed to "Clamp" on the signals is high.

This is a chronic problem. I usually use the meter to test batteries. Can't test the batteriew while they are installed, so I usually put a new bettery in every few years. memory is bad so I put a little tape label on the back of the meter with the last-change date. I've had them last over five years so three is pretty safe PM territory. I suspect it's a shelf-life issue in the service I put the meters through.

Thanks for the response Bill, I do have the CD's and Roger has 10 sets of the WSMs and still didn't have a clue about the TPS, it was mentioned just in passing the other day. The funny part of this is we've had quite a few of the DFW crowd thinking this over and none of us thought of it. My father pointed it out to me. I'll take your advice and check that out. I'll give the WD-40 a try 1st.
