OK, its over finally!
I filed a claim on my INS.
they came back with a number 5K cheaper than what I showed I paid on a Bill of Sale. The ADJ. went to Autotrader.com and found a few for the cheaper price. I went there and found just as many at my price.
I didn't call him for 2 weeks after the lowball offer. When I finally did call, he was ready to close the claim and paid what I was asking for. I bought it back for a great price and the title stayed clean! Money is in the bank.
I have sold the car to a local Rennlist member.

We probably pay a pile of taxes all in. Just the pump tax portion here in Kaly-fornia is about .18 to the feds, .18 state motor fuel tax, plus sales tax on base amount plus those other two taxes computed at 7.75% The oil exploration is taxed elsewhere since oil is explored elsewhere, refining and transport from elsewhere are taxed, and every other tax that can be added on will be added on then taxed again.
Based on the numbers you share, we should see the price of fuel go up and down by a little more than a third of the percentage change in crude costs. All other things being the same. So crude goes up $5 to $70, or about a 7% change, should result in a pump price change of 3%, or about $0.09 to maybe $0.11/gal at current pricing ranges here. It actually seems to goes up at double that rate, drops at half that rate to equalize out.

How did you manage the title clean? I thought that as soon as the car is wrecked and insurance get's involved and totals the car the title is automatically salvage? If not I would seriously be concerned about some of the cars that may be floating around out there.

Thank-you Jim, It was a battle, but it was not the first battle like that I have encountered, so I armed with experience! My stable is pretty full at the moment and I do still have the 86.5 5sp to keep me going, BUT, if I come across a Black S4 5SP at the right time in my life I'll have to make more room in the Garage!!!

I think it has something to do with the fact that my Ins. plans on re-couping some of thier loss from the other insurence Co.
don't know for sure.
