If you like what RainX does, get the PIAAs. Because they lay down a layer of silicon, the water always beads. No need to re-apply RainX, just get these blades.

Alan - had them on my Saab for almost 3 years in Chi-town. They worked nearly as well when I got rid of the car as when I put them on. They stay pliable, they don't tear or lose parts of edges, and they don't streak or chatter. The ICONs may work as well for a while, but they are still rubber, which doesn't give me as much confidence in their longevity. Plus the above mentioned beading. And you can get them with or without a spoiler.

FWIW, Rejex does about the same thing as RainX, and lasts a lot longer....

Has anyone tried the new Rain-X Latitude blades. I've been hearing some good things about them and their geometry.

But it always seems that the far edge on the passenger side never really makes contact. How many flat windshields do you see in this day and age? The Icons have a curve in them and actually follow the contour of the glass which results in better contact and removal of more water. They also seem to last for a while.
Uh, well, I just put them on my 928 and they don't fit the contour of the glass any better than other blades; in fact, since they have no direct support near the ends, they might be a bit worse in that regard. Once the center is pushed flat, the rest of the arm has no curve. Still, probably great blade otherwise. We'll see. Here's a photo I just took. Note the reflection.

Does anyone know where I can get a close-up foto of the stock Porsche 928 wiper arms with the built in spoilers? I'm wondering about the angle of the spoiler as the wind hits it.

I don't have an electronic version of a such picture, but I remember that Porsche showed the spoiler only on the drivers side wiper. Passenger side had no spoiler.

I saw lots of German 928s with the new Bosch ICON blades this summer, and the owners loved those.

I went with the Bosch Micro in 22" length.
Still fits the windshield and clears a much greater area.
I didn't think much about the WS motor...

Our Audi A3 came with those new-fangled Valeo blades, and I was so happy with their performance year-round that I have put them on all of our cars, including the 928. The blade backing has a curve to it so the entire length of the blade truly presses against the glass. The originals on the A3 are a year and a half old and wipe like brand new. They don't lift at speed, they have a lower profile than the stock blades, they last long-time, and they won't ever rust. What more could you want? A great deal on them? Well... it's your lucky day... Tire Rack [no affiliation, just a fan] has them on 2-for-1 sale through the end of August CLICK-ME! . They don't have the 928 in their db (imagine!!) but if you call them you can order a pair of 19" blades a la carte.

They work great! Tested them up to about 110 MPH in the rain and they don't lift or smear. They are superior to everyhting else that I used so far. I will switch my 944 S2 this winter to ICON's too...

The Anco Contour looks the same as the Valeo blade.

Just ordered some Valeo XTRM (apparently the UK version name), will report back when I've fitted them. There's plenty of rain here to try them out, in fact it hasn't stopped raining for about a month, which is causing complete chaos...

If you spend the extra money on these new hi-tech wiper blades, you might consider getting the new wiper blade sharpener to get the most out of them:

Nicole,
Are you a spokesperson for Kalecoauto? Or do you just get a commission for the sales.
I do like the engine oil bypass kit you posted on the engine oil thread.

PS. 928 Specialist, rennlist sponsor, sells the GTS style wiper blades with the spoiler built in. Worked pretty well but I don't drive fast in the rain. I hate it when the rotors get wet and I don't have immediate braking when I squeeze on the middle pedal.

I use the Bosch frames, but put silicone inserts in them. The Bosch rubber just does not last very long in the L.A. smog and they are pretty expensive. The silicone inserts can be had lots of places (including K-mart!!) are very in-expensive, last pretty much forever (lifetime warrenty, in fact, as if you would ever pursue that on a $4 part), and work fine. It's not JUST that I am cheap, but more that I don't use my 928's wipers that often, and when I do reach for them once every year or so I want them to work and not scratch the glass.
