Post What's this thing under the hood?

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6432&item=1875740643&rd=1" target="_blank">86 Euro S on Ebay</a>

This is the most awesome Euro S I have seen for sale in the US (note: no side markers, except the Euro ones behind the front wheels). Lord, let money rain, so I can buy it and add a light grey custom interior...

Anyway, what is this thing mounted to the crossbar?

It looks mighty familiar to me!! Looks like the horn for a siren. Trace the wiring back, you should find a control-box/ampilier unit, and further back from that, you should find the activating switch. We use a user-selectable series of siren tones, as well as a microphone here in the Hong Kong Police.

He mentions something about an aftermaket Clifford alarm. I belive that would be the Siren from that.
That being said I love this car, I think it looks great.

This must be a record, five replies to a post within 14 minutes of starting it. And three of the replies within the same minute.

Cool.

It is either the "alarm" or the "tdelarm"

Yes, that is an incredible vehicle, and the Buy It Now price was reasonable. Unfortunately my "Spend It Now" button is currently not functioning. <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />

Someone please educate me.

Does this 86 euro model have an engine different than the 32 valve engine in the US 86 models? When I see that air intake style, I think of the 16 valve pre-85 models. Just wondering.

Greg-

The 85/86 Euro Models are 16V engines unlike the ROW which are the 32V engines.

Different Cam specs with significant more UMMPPHH in the performance arena.

I don't think that's an 86 car, It has to be either an 84 or an 85. It's got the right engine for an 84-86 but has the earlier (up to 85) single piston front brake calipers. All 86 euro's have the 4 piston 'S4' style brakes and other improvements too. If it doesn't have the brakes it won.t have the others.

I do know my 86 euro's - having two of them!

Cheers

In the owners comments. he states that the headlamp angles are adjustable. I thought in order to federalize a shark, the HL andjustment motor must be removed?. On my 84, the motors are gone?.

Sweet looking Shark, although I don't know about the tires. He has a 911 set up with Fatties on the Back and Skinnies on the front. Dunno if I would go that route.

Nicole - definately a Horn for the Clifford Alarm.

To clarify on behalf of our brethren across the pond, generally all European manufactured cars are 'euros' except for those configured for sale in the US. Hence the designations 'US' and 'ROW' (Rest of World).
