Thanks,guys!
DaveW: Good observations!
He states the car has been imported in '86m so maybe it was already a year old? The style of the seats is post-84, so I would say it can't be older than '85 model (the interior looks original). In Europe, the ABS was an option at the beginning. Could that have anything to do with the different front brakes?

That Is a clifford alram siren. I have installed a good 200 or more of those huge ugly things. And talk about a bad place to put it. Kiss the integrety of that cross bar good bye. Jobs like that give us installers a bad name and in general just tick me off.

To narrow it down a little further, it has the dual distributors, which I thought were only on, what? 83's and 84's?

In Europe, the speaker system we know was an option. Since Europeans typically custom order their luxury cars, that was an excellent opportunity for Porsche to make some extra money.
It wasn't until recently that luxury cars in Europe were equiped similarly to the US models. There are still lots of things Euroopeans have to pay extra. That's why it would not be feasable to import a car from Europe, even if the US would lift those anti-free-trade regulations.
My guess is that a similarly equiped Rowdy, BMTroubleYou, Cermedes or Porch still cost about 20% more in Central Europe (even more in the UK) than in the US. I'd love to be proven wrong on this one...

is it just me or is there no VIN number?
Sounds strange as on ebay you usally have to fill in the VIN number when submitting a car.
A VIN number could solve all the ????? that everyone has about the car.
