Since Tim Murphys monster did 7.7....you'll probably beat that..BUT he did run slicks to do it....if your running street tires figure on around 8 flat due to traction problems

I haven't been to the strip this year, but last year most os my times were 8.2 something. I did have an 8.153 with 12.465 in the 1/4. Maybe after I get tuned I will get out there again. Good luck.

Up until about a month ago I was working on my launch and was planning to have a shot on the 1/4 mile track at Englishtown just to see what I could do.
Then I did the clutch replacement.
Now I just don't think a good 'launch' is worth a new clutch. In most cases once I hook up I can fly past anyone anyway, but 1/8 mile just isn't enough room for me.
When timing 0-60 does the whole car have to be going 60 or just the tires?

Dan Humphries has a 200mph 1/8 mile 928.
It's a fully set up "back half" car with some kind of monstrous big block in it.. Tried to search for pictures but couldn't find any..

A kickdown switch is wired into the dash and when you flick it on,,,,it does exactly the same as when you FLOOR the pedal on an auto...it kicks down...BUT the big difference is....it does it at the slightest of push on the pedal...it makes a HUGE difference to an auto.....and all for the cost of a toggle switch and a few feet of wire...
Its wired in parallel to the one under the pedal...
Its the blue switch bottom right and has a red light when switched on...

Unfortunately I am running on street tyres...and no LSD.....although they are 18 x 10 rears....
Id love a 7 but think an 8 is more likely

Well the Nitrous changes thing , did not see that in my original response an 8 second flat 1/8 of a mile should result in low 12 or high 11 seconds et....

I doubt it as well...
A Veyron does the 1/4 in 10.00 seconds and 147 mph as a comparison..

I had to do a double take on that picture myself. That car is out of Houston? By the way, Nicole, road racing is much more physically demanding than drag racing, however if you make a mistake you can try to make it up on the next lap. Drag racing you get to make up for your mistake next weekend. With most cars, (including 928's) you are correct in that you just stomp on the gas and go straight down the track. However when your putting 2000 horsepower to the ground, you do have to drive it quite a bit. The bulk of driving skill involves the actual start of the race where the winner is usually decided by their ability to react to the "christmas tree" faster. Also, to me drag racing is more about the car's prep and mechanical prowess, versus the driving ability. that's why I dig it, because I do ALL the work from chassis to engine myself. Heck, I don't even drive the car right now.
Also, the car goes from 0-160 mph in 4.6 seconds. (That takes 1/8th of a mile to do) i have not run the car in the 1/4, but that is approximately equivalent to a 7.00 @ 200 mph. As far as quickest versus fastest, I labored over that one, but considered the lowest common denominator went w/ fastest. And while it may not be technically correct in terms of top speed, (although w/ a gear & tire change the car could easily exceed the white cars limit) it is certainly the fastest from 0-100 or whatever. And VERY observant on the front bumper!!
you can check out some more pix here Click here for some pix Also shirts are available for $15 plus $4 shipping, please help support the 928!!! Thanks!!

Just an update, we ran last Saturday and lost in the final due to broken motor. Ran a 4.46 @ 168 mph (1/8th mile) That's approximately 6.80 @ 205+ in the 1/4 mile. Previous best was 4.60 @ 159 mph. We are now also the fastest "backhalf" car in the country. (Backhalf means basically stock front frame rails, suspension, and firewall, but all tube chassis from firewall back.) You can see a video of the pass here.VIDEO
As well as pix here. PICTURES
Tshirts are still only $15 plus $4 shipping. Email me at dhump@ev1.net. Thanks!

HI All
Those times are impossible for a 928 on petrol.....they are possible in Top Fuel...on Nitromethane, also just about possible on Methanol....
By my calculations (and I used to be a Top Fuel crew chief) ..he would need around 3000 to 4000 hp to run those times.......
What engine and what type of fuel is he running in it ???
All the best Brett
