... sniff .. Page 12 it stopped !!

Today is the day of trying to do my rebuild ... and I forsee a small issue with trying to turn the mainshaft without "losing" all the shims that go with it ! (Mainshaft has to be turned to allow reverse gear shaft in ... then turned back to correct position) ... there are about 6 or 8 shims , all of which have to line up correctly , and they will be out of sight as it were !!.
My plan is to try and "stick" them together with a little grease, and hope they move with the assy

... hmm...............

The only other great thread was from John Venninger on this subject. Its pictures are out of whack with descriptions though. We really need a DIY Dwayne-style write up on trans rebuilds.

The grease plan worked !! - Just selectors to adjust (the two that do) ... knock in 4 roll pins ... noting that they are NOT all the same (even though they look it) , and we are home and done !!

Not a 10 minute easy job (strip and rebuild box) , but not too bad with some engineering thought put into it.
proof of the pudding will be seen (or not) in the stage times !!

NOTE the 928 Box isnt made for road racing or drag racing,
though some do use ot for this purpose.

928 aficionados....
The 88 S4 went to a very nice man from Hungary, yesterday.
He bought it as is - engine in place but not running, transaxle out of the car, disassembled. I worked on this 88 and an 82 for Glenn, another very understanding Golf Pro. I fixed his 82 and made a custom armrest.

Several problems came up which kept me from finishing this project.
a) car shifted worse after rebuild of transaxle by local shop
b) trying to keep my mom alive. She was killed by several doctors who medicated her, to death.
c) a battle with STATE (govt) terrorists that continues to this day.
d) going off grid so I do not have to deal with FPL, another terrorist.
I just could never get enough energy and time to resume this 928 repair, and, with the owner's permission, finally sold it, as is.
I will pass the link for this thread onto the new owner and it will be up to him whether he keeps adding to it. Sorry about dropping the ball on the thread.

ah, only goes to show that STATE terrorism is ocurring daily and nationwide.

In all seriousness, have you spoken to your physician about paranoid delusions? The earlier you catch these things, the easier treatment will be.

There's nothing illegal about overflying private property, and certainly the Coast Guard has a nearby base or training facility. Because if you were being monitored by the government, you wouldn't see or hear the helicopters, and they definitely wouldn't be painted bright orange.

What a bizarre week......the $100K Chinese 928...and then this nutcase. Doesn't everyone know by now not to do bussiness with Hungarians........I do, stopped doing any bussiness with myself a long time ago!!!
