Default How to remove windshield washer nozzles from hood?

Has anyone done this procedure?

Didn't find anything on a search or at the Nichol's site.

After removing the hoses look closely at the underside, maybe with a mirror. You will see 4 tabs, 1 front & rear, 1 each side. 2 of the tabs pinch in (the side ones I think)and allow the nozzel to be pressed up and out.

I pinched the front and back, and mine came out. Go easy on pulling the hoses, it's easy to break the nozzle tube. If you have to remove it completely, trace the warming wires back under the black shield near the firewall to the connector. It's wound down the front of the washer bottle on my car. Don't know what year your's is.

I am also doing some research on this now;
Anyone tried to clean the nozzles?

Problem is that the fluid is not coming out at same rate from all nozzle openings, and fluid also keeps leaking slowly after using the washer.
I have replaced all 4 valves.

I have also come to the conclusion that at Porsche the lesser performing engineers were first removed from overall car design, then from engine construction or chassis, and at last, if still failing, end up designing the windshield washer and wiper systems.

Considering the cars price tag when new, this solution really does not belong..

Well spoken Oyvind. I had a heck of a time getting mine to squirt properly. I used some mineral spirits to clean the nozzles, then had to futz(mess with) the hoses feeding the washers. Finally I found a set of connectors and hoses that gave me an equal squirt. Took a while. The stock system is hanging on my garage wall as a totem to crappy design philosophy.

instead of removing the nozzles just remove the hoses use a lighter or heat gun to heat up the hose it will slip off the nozzle then with compressed air and needle from the outside in, poke the nozzle then blow it out with the airgun, ,you might want to do the lines as well .
Drain the resivour tank and remove the metal collar where the fill tube connects both at the tank and the plastic fill tube , you will see that the metal collars are probably both corroded and contaminating you supply, if you have new fill tube yit is easier to remove the collar just heat the tube with a heat gun till the plastic is soft then use a set of needle nose pliers and slid out the collar, there is on on the fill tube and the tank, the flexible fill hose doesnt really need to have the clamps super tight, all of these parts are acessed from removing the right front fender liner

There are some clever little valves on my 928s that regulate the pressure to the nozzles (not the non-return valves) - just throw them away

Bingo. I had this same thought a year ago and I just simplified the tubing system. I've always thought the headlight squirter idea was a joke and those connections just seemed to diminish pressure to where I need it.

The little hood-mounted nozzles need to be cleaned, so I would like to remove them. Thanks for the tip on how to do this. So too, I've had fun taking paper clips and redirecting the nozzle heads. Thus far, I've squirted more windows of nearby cars than mine. This just looks like cheap plastic to me.

As in clogged shower heads, tap water is a greater enemy than failed design. Needles are your friend.

But before you call on them, make sure your disconnected hoses are running clear.

Flushing is your friend for both hoses and nozzles. So are rubber bands to hold the washer lever on as you flush.

Aaahh, we are getting to the root of the initial inquiry.

I have cleaned and recleaned my nozzles several times (needle method) , but they always end up getting plugged.

I have purchased different nozzles that provide a three orifice spray pattern which is far superior to the stock set up. If they work out, I'll post pics and part numbers. I'll have to cancel the stock nozzle warmer circuit somehow, unless it can be retrofitted to the new sprayers somehow.

If anyone needs later model nozzles, I've got a brand new pair in the box. Thought I could upgrade the ob to the newer style but would have to dremmel the hood to do it. Been sitting in my parts closet for several months, need to get rid of them. PM me.

Thanks,
