Keith
Looking good...gonna be sweet when your done!! I also think that making the rear a/c a single switch pot....basically an on-off set to full fan and max cold is all thats really needed.....what about moving them to the glovebox?? That way they are out of sight, but still functional if needed?

Brian, that's another great idea I hadn't considered. Easily done and not permanent.

What's under the center tunnel cassette holder?
As in what will fit under the box? Deep enough to hold switch/controls for rear A/C.

Rather hack the cassette box than that creamy GTS leather.

Guess only those with Paul C.s tall cassette option can play that game then.

How'd they cram all that goodness into the 928.

Where did you get the picture of this Carrara Grey interior? That's pretty darn rare...

I think it came from a car on ebay that I listed on the registry.

OK..now you guys have me flip floppin on what to do with those rear AC switches.

I think I need some quiet time with the car this weekend to figure out the best solution to address this.

Too bad the rear AC unit can't just be piggy-backed on the main AC system by a switch. For that matter, setting the flow control as mentioned to "11" and basically having an on/off to full fan with a punch button located in the ack-bar. This can be disguised/covered by another "AC" button. Hell, I can just back light it too like the original...I would have to somehow make a "REAR AC " label for the inside of the button...hmmmmm.

Anyone hav any suggestions as to what can be done with the rest of the Ack-bar? I had seen DR marry the A/F Ratio meter into one...but no interest in having one in the GTS. Idea's???
I have some extra buttons on mine (the ! is a temp version for the dash reset till I get the OEM green button version, Green & Red round push buttons are for my garage door opener... you could use for different. I like the idea of the rear temp controls nearer the back unit.

Keith - as you can see you get into lots of possibilities on virtually everything - hard to decide what combos are for the best overall.

I do think relocating the power outlet(s!) to the side of the console is a good idea - the stock location sucks - especially on a manual - anything plugged in gets in the way of 4th.

Nothing keeps you from doing this. The thermo pot helps you decide if the rear air needs to be cold or not. The fan switch controls fan speed, and also powers the circuit through the pot and indirectly to the solenoid.

You should be able to consolidate all this into one switch, and it could be darn near any switch. Figure that rear air operation is going to be used only to pull down the interior temp for a short while after a hot soak, so you will be using the higher fan speed back there. Your wiring task is to configure the switch to open the solenoid and run the fan on high speed whenever the switch is closed.

Keith,

I can't remember whether you have the center armrest/cassette box. Even if you have to add it, that would seem like a natural place to put the rear AC controls -- just run the wires under the carpet, no need to put holes in any of the original leather pieces. If you do have the center armrest, just get a replacement and use that. You could put the controls on the rear of the armrest.

Thanks Bob, That's certainly a thought! I just have to consider whether I really want that. It's gets pAiNfULLy CoLD in there without the rear AC.

Dave, of course I have a center armrest. I took it out so I could lean my elbow ion the tunnel while working. Don't want to screw it up. AC pots are too big to put anywhere in or around the armrest.

I think I have come to the decision of just cranking the temp control all the way up and leaving the swithc back there behind the console. I will install an ON/OFF in the IPOD docking area under a panel.

Keith, I meant smaller replacement pots if you go that route. Sounds like you have a solution though.

Sorry brother, nothing to post as the car hasn't received a bit of work since my last post. I have been so busy with other things that I have been riding around with a half stripped interior with no passenger seat.
