Do you know the same guys i run with that run 2:29-2:30s at Road America on DOTs, (mid pack speed world challenge BMWs) and run 2:24ish at sebring, and these are BMWs with the 2.8 liter weighing 2800lbs with driver and run on 245x17s toyo RA1s!!!! the fastest of the bunch has run 2:19 at Sebring!! Thats only 295ish RWHP! Jon Pall, a guy that runs very close to me. I beat him last year, but only by .01 seconds qual and in a close race at laguna in this trim, ran 2:24 in his pro race at sebring.

Trust me, there are a million otherways you are going to get faster now. you got plenty of power now! you lost all those positions because you broke!

I think before bigger brakes, that a more solid LSD unit is something that $$ need to be spent on, but what the hell do I know.

I can't believe the FWD Mazda 6 & Acura TSX can get such good times??? Granted they have serious drivers & are full race cars.....but still......if they can get a 2:19-2:20....then a proper 928 stroker race car should be faster still.....2:15 maybe? No wonder they kicked you guys out!!

Remember, these are only the World challenge Touring cars. Mark A. and I ran in GT class (vets, vipers, GT3s, etc) The GT Sebring times are near 2:09!! So, Mark Anderson, would run near the mid pack times as he has always done, and that would be near the 2:14 range i would imagine. Yes, the touring cars are full race cars, about $140k a copy or $80k for a used good mid to front pack one like the one i run with (john Prall's BMW 328 7th place at World challengeTouring laguna '05) that runs 2:24s at Sebring! You can see how fast this car is vs mine, just on hp alone on the video clip.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...8+racing&hl=en

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...27202600528034

He is the yellow and black BMW. the Acura is Brandon Davis, who runs near the front of the World challenge Touring class. we had a great race here too!.

Can you imagine JV (or me) getting passed by the top world challege cars, and some of them are only 4 cylinders (mazda, TSX, etc). So, my point is that the driver development and the car's set up becomes very important, more so, than just raw HP. Getting a car "hooked up " is key. you got to be able to toss these cars into turns and trust that they are gong to stick, and this pays big dividends on exit speeds and that carries over to the straights.

All the trick handling stuff anderson has, probably is worth 2-3 seconds vs the way JV's car is set up. All the hp in the world, wont change times that much at these high levels of performance.

John,

Glad to see you are back on the track. The last time I saw you run was 2 years ago on the very wet Lime Rock track. If you get to either Lime Rock or Watkins Glenn this summer let me know, I will be glad to provide pit assistance.

John,

I'd like to know too, please give us some notice. I don't know if I'd be any good in the pit, but I can cheer with the best of 'em.

I'm also pretty good with duct tape and a razor knife .

Congrats John on the class victory. Even bigger congrats on successfully putting together an all-out 6.5L race car. Lots of people talk/dream about it (including me), but you've actually made it a reality. That thing is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I love that ITB setup too.

Any chance of you bringing that beast out west? Like PCA @ Miller Motorports Park in Utah? I'd love to see that thing run.

Hi Mike,

I'll keep everyone posted on when I will race next. Have some repairs to do

Dennis,

Thanks. It sure was a very long road to get the car to this point.
Don't think Utah is in my plans anytime soon unless I win the lottery and have the car transported for me! Those long tows are draining on me and the wallet!
What's your engine status?

The race results are finally posted. Although I wish we would have finished I am very happy to have advanced 15 positions before we retired.

10mpg, 2400 miles, $2.15/gallon= $516.00.
Way less than the $2K+ to have it sent to and from Sebring plus airfare for me!

I had some extra vacation time and I could use the $1,500 on some tires

Or you can use the free Toyo RA1s, use the frequent flyer miles and you save 2 days of windshield time!
