2007 USGP
One of the ideas we’ve been kicking around on our beer nights is to organize some sort of get together in and around the USGP (June 14-17th). Depending on interest and schedules it could be a simple as picking a local establishment to meet, or having a cookout, to renting a small party facility.

I know the local PCA group is having a police escort and has a reserved parking corral. Perhaps we could coat tail on some of their activities. I’m having breakfast with them today and will see what they say. At this point they haven’t sold all of their tickets which are located in the most popular corner (turn 1). I already have my tickets, but I could help others if they need them deadline is 2/28.

To get the ball rolling, I’d like to get an idea of how many shark owners will be coming to town. Please let me know if you plan on attending and if you would be interested in a gathering.
Besides letting your intentions be known here, please email a note to IndyArea928’at’hotmail.com (where ‘at’=@) as well. I’ll start an email distribution list to keep everyone abreast of the developments.

Wow! Cool opportunity, for sure!
My only issue is SITM is 2 weeks before. Not sure if I can get vacation privaleges from the Mrs. I think Hacker and some of the other WI crew might be very interested in this. Let me see what i can do here in the Detroit area.

Don't all jump on this at once.
Seriously though, if anyone is interested the Central Indiana PCA ticket deadline in 2/28/07. This could end up being the last USGP held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If you have seen/heard an F1 car in person and you are relatively close. you really should do it at least once. What you see on TV does not do these cars justice. Anyhow, please let me know if you are interested.

I understand the RSKY BIZ might be coming to town.
Any others plan on seeing the race in person?
I'd be happy try to coordinate a mini get together.

Of all the races I’ve seen here in Indy, F1 has always been my favorite. Today wasn’t my favorite race, but it was good… just uneventful. I almost like it better when in rains… nothing like mixing up the conditions and watching the drivers/teams adjust. It’s too bad the Americans don’t embrace F1 racing like the rest of the world... almost embarasing how poorly we treat it. One day I wish to see an F1 race either in Canada or Europe.

Montreal is an awesome race track; been twice and highly recommend the event but by far my favourite is Spa.
Magny Cours is not good perhaps why its getting dropped. Silverstone is a great track but hard to get out of; Hockenhiem is no longer on the calendar; Monza is Ferrari heaven and Imola was spectacular before the major crashes in '94 and the subsequent track changes.
If you come up to Canada let us know.

Except for the winner driving away from the pack unchallenged, the Porsche Cup race was very eventful. A number of the drivers in the middle were really pushing the limits. Watching those beautiful cars get all beat up is a little tough on the eyes. They used to an amateur Ferrari race too… that was a sight to be seen.
