Dent for breakfast

That sucks. How long did you guys stay in there? If the video does not catch it, they should go back through the receipts and find out who paid from the time you got there and the time before you guys left. And its not like its a cramped parking lot, ample space to back out and still be far from hitting your car.
Be ready to confront the owner if he tells you the camera did not pick up the accident (owners may be covering for regular client, employee, friend etc).

Uninsured Motorist? It seems like a common misconception that this coverage will pay for your damage in any way. AFAIK it is just to pay for your medical if you are hit by an uninsured motorist. Damage to your car would be covered by Comprehensive in that case.

Damage to your car is NOT covered by comprehensive. Comp is strictly for vehicle upset other then collision. Fire, theft, flood, broken windows, etc.
That dent is strictly collision.

I'm betting it was an illegal, no insurance (naturally) and hauled *** as soon as it sounded expensive.
Ah, life in socal.
I wish you luck.

Bummer, Dangler- sorry for the damage
A few months ago a gentleman (sic) in a big white pickup left some bumper paint along the rear quarter and door of my wife's Accord in the parking lot at Home Despot. He hopped out and walked into the store. A kindly older Dutch gentleman called him on it, found a store manager, who made an announcement and had my wife come out to the parking lot. They waited for the guy to return. HA!
The guy ended up having insurance, and his company cut us a check for ~$900. I pops-a-dented (hey, it's a Honduh) the crease so that it's not nearly as noticeable. Been meaning to get it fixed, but it'll just get dinged again in the patient parking lot at her work.....
Thank heaven for Good Samaritans. That's the kind of situation that I will HAPPILY pay forward some day.

The dent might not have been on purpose, but leaving the scene was a morally corrupt act. I once was at an accident scene when a couple of kids walked up to see what had happened. A slightly injured party took his sunglasses off and laid them on the ground, as we were trying to asses the situation. One of the kids proceded to try to steal the sunglasses. I caught him and proceded to give him the lecture of his life on morality, something it was clear his parents had never, ever done. It was one of the most astonishing things I've seen someone do. Anyway, I did my best to make this kid feel like he was not going to amount to pond scum, although on second thought he's probably become a prominent corporate financial officer.

Dan: I'm sorry to hear about this; I wish the penalties for hit and run were so high that people would not even think about leaving...
Actually, what happens when you are caught here after leaving the scene? I remember when and where I grew up, people would lose their license over this. Probably not anymore...
A few weeks ago I took my car to run some errands, and ended up with a few very deep scuffs in the passenger side fender. Tonight I had to drive it to settle the suspension for tomorrow's alignment, so I took it to run my errands - and constantly worried about it. It's just too precious to me...

My son seems to remember a red H2 doing some sloppy parking maneuvers into a handicapped spot across the parking lot from my car just as we went inside. They didn't come in as far as I can remember, hit n split is my guess. I missed picking up my other car from a X pipe install, and didn't get back to the restaurant today since we ended up a car short, but tomorrow I will check more with them and the InstaLube next door may have a camera as well.
Two good shops looked it over, both say quarter panel respray and part of the door, about $1000 $1500. I left it with Larry Cerny, long time 911 owner, and former employee of Glaslo with details to get sorted out tomorrow, have it back sometime next week. 928Intl even seems to have the rub strip. Putting AAA in the loop in the morning, not really bothering me anymore, but losing original paint somewhat annoying still.
Restaurant camera may show the event, but no ID due to a tree in the wrong spot. My guess is that we will at least have some info, maybe movement of my car and theirs, color, type of vehicle.
Anybody using these?

I could be just like PacBell, park, put out my cones, etc.
