A good friend sent me a present. Some rods and bearings and caps. They ALL are garbage from jiggling around the box they were in, the rods and caps also. Take a look:

Argh! I bought some cams for my 82 CBX motorcycle from a guy on eBay. The guy figured since they were hardened steel, they didn't need much protection, so he just wrapped them in a single layer of newspaper and threw them loose in a box. They looked kinda like you bearings there, Heinrich, after they banged into each other across the country. I knew I was in trouble when I picked up the box and heard "clang, clang" noises. I got a refund.

Damaged in packing...not shipping. I worked for AutoZone years ago, we kept our bearings spaced with little cardboard pieces while still in the box. No damage ever...sorry to hear.

I recently bought a 928 model that I had never seen in this color from a vendor in Asia. It came with a plexi dislpay box, wrapped in one layer of bubble wrap, then packaging paper. Needless to say, the display box was smashed. But to make thins worse, the model itself was terribly damaged - the body had separated from the chassis by breaking the chassis around the screw that held the two together. Thankfully, the seller agreed to send me another one - which I'm still waiting for.
The first shipment of "THE REAL 928" books came in cardboard boxes with no additional protection. The top two and bottom two books were damaged - luckily the ones in the middle were OK. So, when I reordered them, I specifically asked that they package them with extra padding tec - but they came the same way. Again, I had to sell a few books with damage on ebay.
I sometimes wish I would get feedback from my customers on how things arrived - but I guess that in this case no news is good news.
I remember one time I sent a Herpa 928 to an ebay bidder, and he slammed me with a bad feedback because of shipping damage. When I asked what happened and why he did not contact me first, he said the model had come of its socket and disintegrated during shipping, and he thought it would not be worth enough for me to replace it. I was shocked, but nevertheless sent him a new one...
USPS = United States' Parcel Smashers? Well, not always. But one should prepare for the worst, just to be sure...

I want to make it perfectly clear that my friend's name shall forever remain anonymous. This was just a post to show the damage and say what a bloody shame .... no intent to be negative at all.

I pack stuff now like its going to be shot out of a cannon at a brick wall into a pool of alligators. If I end up buying my engine parts on the East coast, I expect not to sleep well until they are here and inspected. A pallet and pallet wrap by somebody that knows what to do can work wonders.
Sorry for your bad luck Heinrich.
