Well, Dave, we will be counting the days until your two-year strut survival report comes in!
EDIT Too: Dave, maybe DR can get genuine Porsche struts for the front as well as the rear; they just don't list the fronts on their online store pages.

Aftermarket are working fine for me... I'm with Keith on this one. Only problem was, I kept ending up with one having a chrome shaft and one having a black shaft.

I believe I got mine from DEVEK, around the time I bought this car in the year 2000. They have been working well ever since. I have no idea whether they are Genuine Porsche, OEM, or aftermarket - I doubt they are genuine, and since DEVEK has never sold me anything that did not work well, I assume they are OEM.

I bought my bonnet (pardon, hood) struts from 928 Intl in June '02. They were aftermarket and cost very little. About $11 each IIRC. They are still working perfectly, the bonnet glides gently open all by itself when I release the catch. I was impressed to note that 928 Intl put several reminders on correct fitment into the packaging, even one on the invoice. I'm about to order the rear ones and will be asking for more of the same.

Ok, so nobody really knows. Thanks for the info anyhow.
I have 3 cars all built within 5 months of each other and now I am finding that all the shocks are going at once.
It is not a large expense but I need 12 shocks of assorted sizes and I know from experience the 911 shocks are a PITA to replace. So it will run me about $150 more for the factory shocks on 12 units. Not enough to cry over but with all the other parts needed for my new toy I was getting cheap. I think if the OE units lasted 13 years they are worth buying again. If the after market ones last 3-5 years the factory seem to be the better choice.

I bought some for my 911SC before I sold her. How would you like some free brand new shocks I think they fit both hood and trunk. These would be non-whaletail.

STABILUS is the oem supplier of hood & deck air springs/struts and the mini 2-way shocks on the early motor mounts: Regardless of where sourced and whether or not they carry a $ Por$che $ label, they are a quality product.
They are so constructed that they are rebuildable, like Konis or Bilsteins .... there is a guy in British Columbia that operates a refurbishing service, and has rebuilt struts for me.

Cool. Now I can focus on the other shocks again.

The Lift-o-Mat in my 928s4 lasted about 3 years. Not great. I think temperature has a lot to do with it. The hatch dampers that carry more weight last a lot longer.....
