I think it'll do the trick. I bought the one with the G-Force accelerometer overlay feature - you get to see the lateral G's on the X axis across the bottom of the video and the accel/decel G's on the Y-axis on the left side.
Ah, so that's what happened to the tire budget.

j/k. Sounds like a lot of fun, wish I could be there.

It appears the car will not be at Road America this Memorial Day weekend as planned. Just too many details to tie up. Will be finishing the car this 3-day weekend, we feel.

Here are some neat pictures from the build:

What's the purpose of the three ducts in the rear "glass"?

They perform 2 aerodynamic functions: a) they depressurize the cabin and reduce drag, b) they increase downforce of the rear spoiler making it more effective.

Analogy: Imagine you are holding two buckets in the wind. One bucket is normal, on bucket has big holes in the bottom. You know which one will have more drag.

You may have noticed in your garden-variety 4-door sedan that the noise caused by driving with the driver's window only down is deafening, but if you also crack open a rear window, the noise (and turbulance and drag) is much lower and better. Same thing.

The car, with the windows down for racing - is the bucket. The air curls into the cabin on the 928 just in front of the B pillar, but cannot exit. Its like going down the main straight with the drag parachute extended ( a slight exageration, but an effective visual aid). If we let the air out of the back of the 928, then we reduce drag, and we cool the driver better too as we have improved air exchange in the cabin.

We simply aim the outlet below the spoiler to lower the air pressure beneath the spoiler, therby increasing downforce.

My design - I have not seen it yet anywhere else. I can't be the first to have thought of it - so I 'm sure I'll see it somewhere someday.

A few new photos from the Pikes Peak Prep. Or, The Build as it has come to be known.

The photo below of crushed Granite is what the upper 7 miles of the pike's Peak Hillclimb is covered with. Every type of rock has a certain internal crystalin or moilecular structure - so when they are cleeved or crushed - the angles of fracture are well known and predictable. Diamond cutters know these angles precisely for diamonds, and masons know these angles for slate floors.

My Dad was an Engineer and a Geologist (dual degrees) and I heard so much about Rocks as a kid I thought I'd croak. Apparantly, a little of his passion crept into my head long enough to stick there.

When granite is crushed - it will form a 45 degree edge. That's damn sharp. Consider your cold chisel properly sharpened to 48 to 50 degrees and the wood chisel sharpened to 40 degrees.

One competitor at Pikes Peak told me that after the Pike's peak run, the alluminum lower control arms on his 911 were so cut up by the granite that they had to be changed out before he could safely go road racing again.

Because of this - we've taken to shielding all critical elements with T6 alluminum - we have shields around the 044 fuel pump, the fuel lines, and entire second skin around the fuel cell 1/2" away from the cell itself... you get the idea. You can see some of this shielding in these photos.

Carl,

That's amazing. There's so much more to this than the average fan would think of.

It's going to be a damn shame to get dirt and much all over that clean setup you've got. It's a beautiful design though.

You're not running without TB covers, are you?

Pretty friggin' awesome! I would imagine that there's a lot of "puckering" on many of those turns, especially driving into the sun. I'd probably be suctioned to the seat by drive's end!

Good luck Carl, I know you'll represent 928ers extremely well!

Carl I hope you will be installing an engine undertray also. You don't want those tiny granit gravels to go into the uncovered timing belt.
Very good professional work

You bet - I have the complete engine undertray from 928 Intl to install. Its off for the moment while I break in the motor - but it'll be on for The Peak. Just got the dual exhaust done yesterday, outlets are on each side just behind each tire. I am making custom support straps tomorrow for it. I willpost new exhast pics when I am done.

Finished the dual exhaust with 3" tubes all the way back.
Had to get around the battery box and clear the fuel cell. Sounds really nice, and not as loud as we thought it might be!

I've broken about every promise made to my wife and she's about to hang me. Example: on Sunday, I came home for lunch and to get cleaned up to go with her to a wedding reception - and begged off to work on the car... she attended the wedding reception alone.

I have promised her that tomorrow - 4th of July - I will not touch the car. I just called her an hour ago and asked if it'd be OK if I bring the TRAILER home to work on it in the back yard. At least I'd be home.... sorta, right?

Wanna see the results of our 8 months of effort? I have a small video we just made yesterday that you can look at here:

http://www.928motorsports.com/privatevideos.php

The top one is the best one to see, and it includes the bottom one also in the same video.

Carl,

I know that no one has to tell you...but that's one nice honkin' car you have there. Good luck. We're rootin' for you.

Any news on when the Denver group will be driving down for the race?
