Default Zimmerman Brake Rotors Question

Just picked up a new set of Zimmerman's for my '89...should these be turned before installing? They look like they are ready to go, but just wanted to check what others have experienced in the past.

Should be good to go once you clean them...........rotors typically have a rust prevention coating on them from the factory.

They shouldn't need to be turned. Zimmerman rotors are some of the highest quality rotors I've seen. Ditto the cleaning.

The wear limit spec for our rotors is 2mm total...that's only 1mm per side. When the lip reaches 1mm, time for new rotors.

Paint the hats as they'll rust pretty much right away. We've had good luck here in DFW land using rustoleum "Hammered" paint. It comes in black, charcoal, and silver. Looks awesome and at least 4 of us have used it with great results. Spray or brush on it comes out good either way.

You'll also want to paint the cooling fins too. I did the hats only and ended up with a very rusty looking ring. I recently did the fins and it looks WAY better!

I've seen lips deeper than that. What's the downside of going beyond 1MM, warping?

Going beyond minimum thickness and you risk warping, cracking and breaking.........try stopping the car then.
