Tom Falkenberg has adark burgundy one (amethyst metallic).
Stan Kolen probably has the most unique one - it's pearl ivory (canary yellow) metallic with pearl grey all leather interior.
Jim Bailey has a very, very brown 928.
Then there is the full custom 928 with Chevy enginen in Mine orange metallic...
Nicole, just because I've been racking up most of my miles on my Graphite Metalic '87 S4 (AFAIK not a 928 color - but was a 911 Turbo color that year), don't forget that my '93 GTS is also Amazon Green - which looks more like dark blue until there is direct light shining on it!

My '83 928S is rubinerot (ruby red) w/bone & brown interior. I think that color was only offered a couple of years, but it's the only one I have seen.

My Dads old 88S4 was custom ordered by the original owner in Mercedes Benz "Chapagne Poly" paint and it also had the full leather option. He sold it in 1994 with 42,000 KMS in Vancouver Canada.

Rich,

What color interior do you have?

I would have thought it was rare, but I've seen lots of others the same color around here.

Having read through the entire thread I don't remember seeing anyone mention Velvet Red (Samtrot) and I know there is at least one 928 in that color somewhere.

And even though Venetian Blue was only available in 87/88 there's a GT (89 I think) that color. I don't know the story behind how that came to be.

Here's my 89 GT in a picture I copied from the Shark Treffen thread from last month. I'm not sure that Velvet Red would be considered rare but as far as I know this is the only Velvet Red 89 GT with a Linen interior. There's one other on the registry but it has a full burgandy interior.

I'm surprised no one has offered up Schieferblau Metallic (Slate Blue Metallic). Guess this one is rare too? I wasn't aware.

How about Pearl mist metallic aka Black Cherry? An 86.5 automatic with burgundy and linen sport interior living in Canada now.

Default Chameleon Pearl White

A friend of mine had a special 928 in a Porsche family color,--a pearlescent white kind of, that had a slight purple hint under the right lighting. Porsche used to reserve a handful of colors for exclusive use of the immediate Porsche family members' cars. A guy bought this car from the factory and later sold it to another guy I knew. I remember them telling me how rare it was,--and within a year I saw a 924 in the exact color on Rodeo Drive in BH one day.

the car was originally owned by Dr. Ernst Fuhrman,--it was Chameleon Pearl White.

Sorry,--don't have a photo handy right now, but will post one after scanning.

Yes, I could. If the car was basically stock bodywork, lowered, and a great pair of polished or chromed wheels, yes. I'm used to riding sportbikes with full leathers in with some very flashy paint schemes. Makes it easier for cars to see me when I ride. And if a 928 had that bright green paintjob, everyone would look, which is what I think we want people to do, is see our cars. Porsche had something like it for the 1977 911S and Carrera, and I fell in love with the color. The first 911 I ever drove was that color, a 1977 911S. Might be why I have an affinity for it. That car just blew me away, cause it was so light, nimble, and fast.

I find I get more than my fair share of looks in less obvious colors and yes this color is very 70's and would look great on an early 70's 911. The turbos weigh in at about 400 pound more than a 77S and about 800 pounds more than the earlier 70-71 911's. With the wide body and speedline wheels these cars get more than enough attention. My cobalt blue gets head wrenching looks and have had people almost get into accidents when I drive by. To each his own but this color belongs on a 71 911 E or a 914-6 but should be left to the cars of that vintage IMO.

Don't forget "Silver green" - basically light green metallic, and "Lagoon green" -basically light blue.

I have the L999 code on my sticker - interesting to know it means special order colour. My colour is 461 Meteor metallic, available in 1982, 1985 and 1986.
