Default You all told me and now I see the light in reguards to my 951 vs my S 4

After owning my 951 for 4 years and making it very fast I was some what surprised with my 928 S 4 that it did not feel the same way. The 951 with the mods was a rocket it felt seat of the pants fast and it was. I had some doubts about my 928. I was told to drive it and to use the 2nd gear postion and try that. Too night out with my son who said the 951 was way faster I tried something with him that one of you told me to do. Sitting at a light I droped it down into 2nd pushed in the brake held it to 2000 rpm and stomped on it. BLAST OFF, I then looked back much to my surprise a very big cloud of what could only have been burnt rubber. I was told by you all that I just needed to learn how to drive the 928 and you were right. As we were now aproaching lift off speed I then told my son in a very short time that we had just passed 110. He was amazed that it did not feel like 110 as I was also. As I have been told by all of you and I then told him that at this speed the car was just starting to wake up.

Thanks to all of you the "Yoda's of the 928" I now see the light. Next week we will be installing the X pipe for the exhaust and the Autoathority chip I should see acording to the specs 60 more HP and a very nasty sounding 928. I am very excited about the sound I am going to have. Almost makes me want to go trolling for a Vette along I 75.

Welcome to the Dark Side.
Get the very best radar detector you can and have friends in the right legal places.

X-pipe should give the beast a nice snarl.

With my mute stock S4 exhaust, I keep one eye on the speedo so I don't have to sit in the back of a cruiser as the ossifer writes up the summonses.

Ernest (NYC) Hate those new slim light bars on cruisers. Looks like a durned roof rack from far away.

My favorite is to take someone for a ride, then go from zero-to-sixty-to-zero. That usually ends all discussion about it being slow.

Check your flex plate, make sure the driveshaft isn't pushing on it, leading to dreaded thrust bearing failure. Then go have fun.

I have taken the car to the shop and we will be changing the axel boots and switching out the axels. Plus the stearing boots. Parts are ordered, and we will be checking everything when it is on the lift next week.

Glad your trilled with your 928. Didn't take you very long - took me about 6 weeks before I decided mine was a keeper.

You experience reminds me of a day I was with Beerfish. Always wanted to know how my '85 stacked up against his manual euro. At he light (on a divided highway during rush hour) he signaled to me to see if I wanted to run. When the light turned green we were off. I was behind him and after about a 1/4 mile he got a couple of lengths ahead of me. Later we were talking about it and he said we were going over 100. I realized he was probably right because it was over a 1/4 mile run. Lucky we didn't get sent to the pokey that day.

Cliff,

Glad you're appreciating the new beast. Good luck trying to find and drive it at its limits, I personally have not had the ***** to do it and I'm now thinking the best place is the track where you can't get arrested on the spot

Finding a place to open it up into the triple digits is going to be tough. Not sure I want to aproach warp speed on a country road designed for 55 and not sure I want to get cuffed and stuffed for going 145 mph on I 75. I am pretty sure even with Rader that I can not get to 65 mph from 145 mph fast enough to not get cuffed and stuffed. My brother is a depuity and I am pretty sure I can not talk my way out of 145 mph even if I drop his name and he is there best buddy.

Your best bet is to find a group of 928's and go for a drive...... You won't have to wait for long to find those triple digits. They find themselves and for some reason things happen in packs.

I was on my way to work this morning (5am) and found a nice long over pass that merged into the main highway. As I look to my right (merging on the highway) I hit the gas as I picked the placement I wanted to be in......... When I finally hit that spot........110............OOPS time to slow down and "merge" with traffic.

Glad you are happy with the shark, Cliff. Don't worry, it will grow on you from here.

As Sean implies, merging always seems to involve hitting the brakes in these cars...

A bit of on track driving instruction in a 928 is most entertaining, but its also very addictive.
