Imo, hate to rain on your parade, but that does not sound like LSD, at least not LSD working properly. With the trans in park, you should be able to rotate the wheels in opposite directions, but it should take a great deal of effort. It should not be easy to get the wheels to spin in opposite directions regardless of gear.

Get on a soft-shoulder road and straddle the edge of the pavement, so one wheel is in the gravel and the other on the pavement. Nail the throttle. If it spins both tires or moves away briskly, you have LSD. If you just sit there and spew gravel, it's not LSD or it's a broken LSD.

What he said - 12 stamped on the transmission means LSD (11 means not) - as somebody else wrote; LSD may need fixing....

12 stamping is extra, there is no 11 for open diff. There is 12 11... in some transmission numbers but ...11... is there always recardless of diff type. First 1 = 8 cylinder transmission and second 1 = 5 speed. In automatics its ...15... as 1 = 8 cylinder and 5 = automatic, ...12 15... is automatic with LSD.

Maybe I’ve been a little too conservative with the description. When in park it does take effort to spin the tires and they spin in opposite direction. The resistance feels like as if the callipers were dragging, but when in any other gear the tires spin very easily in the same direction. When in park, I have to get next to the wheel otherwise the resistance it too much for me to spin it. Sometimes describing certain things on the net is rather difficult. To me some resistance might mean a lot to others. I think the LSD is operating as it should. I’m parting the car out so any kind of a curb side testing is not possible.

OK, sounds like a worn LSD. I haven't looked up the spec, but the amount of drag should be enough to move the car forward when one wheel is slipping. I want to say 40+ ft/lbs. but I could be wrong.

I'm a little confused here. Are you talking about the drag when the transmission is in park or when it's not in park?

When it's in park. I went and looked up the spec, it turns out the LSD is weaker than I thought. The 40 ft/lb number probably drifted up out of my big-block Mopar memories... Sounds like yours is probably OK. Sorry for any confusion.

Has anyone made the tool shown in post #22? This is not a Porsche manufactured part, the WSM indicates local manufacture so someone has to make it themselves. I need to borrow one to check my LSD before installation?

Looks like they are nothing more than a steel plate with two holes. The bottom is just clamped into the wise and the to p has a small rectangle hole for the wrench to fit. You can replace the hole with welding a socket to the centre of the plate. You should be able to make the bars yourself then take one in with the socket to the local muffler shop and they can weld the socket on for you.
