Default How fast will your street 928 go?

After looking(and drooling I admit) at the pix of some of you guys' engine bays, I just wonder what kind of top speeds you are hitting. I have a bone-stock 78 and it will easily get over 100 mph without breaking sweat, so I'm just curious what the hopped up sharks are doing on the highway.
BTW, I'm not a cop.

I've heard that insurance companies sometimes surf the web looking for info like you ask for. I never go over the speed limit. In fact, to be safe in a RED 928, you should drive 5mph UNDER the limit. Other colors may be able to "stealth" at posted speeds. Camrys can often get away with 10% over. Then ago, 928s are special.

Driver's Ed or track days are great to try your car.

Shocki lives in Deutschland...where speed is not a sin. Our cars were made for the Autobahn. Unlucky for us to live in the slow lane.

If my speedo is correct I hit just about 115mph. But I started to run out of open road, so I had to back off. I swear that my 78' felt like it was more than willing to keep going.

Don't worry about your nose. Chalk it up to speedometer error. 928s are notorious for not being accurate.

i've seen a 928 that looked like mine , speeding with a carrera and it was said that they hit 130.
that was a 83 928s , just like mine.
but i think the 928 could have make another 15 miles or so.
of course that's all hear-say.

I haven't been over 155. But 140 comes really really easily.

151 mph by radar on an airfield. The car is a bone-stock ROW 89GT. Manual of course. No cats, minimum quantity of 95 octane fuel, all removable items including spare wheel removed. There was more to be had but the runway wasn't long enough.

1985, US, 32v, Auto

When they finished construction of about 15 miles of 4 lane highway, we found a gravel road that crossed it and you could easily pass the barricades. The asphault was super fresh and smooth as the exponential decay of current through an inductor...160 on the odometer.
Funny thing was that the car still felt like it was doing 70, the only clue was the stripped line btwn the lanes went solid and the trees on the side of the road looked like the stars outside the millenium falcon when it made the jump to hyperspace.

I don't have the slightest idea of what you speak. What 928? I am feeling uncomfortable around here. Wait, while I retrieve my owner's manual for a car like a 928. I think it states that the top speed is somewhere close to 170 mph or something like that. i guess someone somewhere tested the car and wrote down how fast it was going, and that's how they knew that. Of course it wasn't likely done in Sunnyvale, California, USA, because Sunnyvale is one of the safest cities in the United States of America; peaceful and quiet except for when Sharkskin is roaming around. In fact, stay away from Sunnyvale, it stinks and is crime ridden. Go away. Beat it. Why do you ask such questions? Are you trying to cause some trouble? I might have to call the cops on you guys.

170 legally in the same event as George. I was not floored, whereas before the supercharger, when the car was stock, it pooped out at 165.6 (1/4-mile trap measured). This was in the high desert in Nevada. Not bad for a 17 year-old car with over 170K miles.
