Someone was driving my '86.5 and told me that it shifted into 4th at an indicated 135. Of course I wouldn't have any way to know for certain that it is so. But dat's wot he sayid.

Driver's Ed or track days are great to try your car.

140 in 4th, put into 5th, went to 145, then decided that it might be time to use a little "common sense". Never went that fast again because there is nowhere to drive safely like that around here.

My 81 s was OK at that speed and felt like it had more (as they say).

Keep in mind Kibort's record setter (with 2.20 gearing) had (I think) manually controlled flaps giving it better aero, no side mirrors, "GT-like" cams, and a "special" LH computer.

Given the following.."For example, at 85 degrees F, 30.14 Inches Hg (mercury) barometer reading, 40% relative humidity and 5000 feet altitude, the engine only produces about 81.1% of the rated horsepower. " Rich you may have only had 240 RWHP !!

Yes the altitude power loss is huge for a normally aspirated engine which is why Turbos/superchargers cars can do so well IF they are set up to run at altitude !
