Zeus... you did no such thing *wink* *wink*. and if you did, I'm sure my euro would not have been able to keep up. in all seriousness though, Sir zeus's car is a bit of a beast... thing hauls. perhaps the stripe adds horse? lol. infact, I don't even think my euro can do the 130mph the nice state trooper cited me at last wednesday oh well... guess it must be my not so great math skills in the kph conversion. guess redline in fourth is a bit over the speed limit.

Someone was driving my '86.5 and told me that it shifted into 4th at an indicated 135. Of course I wouldn't have any way to know for certain that it is so. But dat's wot he sayid.

Driver's Ed or track days are great to try your car.

Silver/Grey TLs are allowed 20-40% in San Diego.

140 in 4th, put into 5th, went to 145, then decided that it might be time to use a little "common sense". Never went that fast again because there is nowhere to drive safely like that around here.

I believe the 87 s4 could hit 165 in stock form, but with the Murph kit I wonder what it would top out at? Too chicken to find out myself.....

The friend that I was following in his S4 had 170 mph on both digital & analogue tachos; I assume that was near 165 real mph.

My 81 s was OK at that speed and felt like it had more (as they say).

I've heard that insurance companies sometimes surf the web
looking for info like.......

I wish them lots of luck to trace who I really am...

Mayyyyyybeeee,...... but not at 6,000ft elevation, stock ride height, side mirrors, no cooling flaps. The 2.20 gearing is a slug above 145mph. I have 292rwhp and could only get to 155mph. The car just isn't in the power band like the later cars with higher gear ratio.

Keep in mind Kibort's record setter (with 2.20 gearing) had (I think) manually controlled flaps giving it better aero, no side mirrors, "GT-like" cams, and a "special" LH computer.

Given the following.."For example, at 85 degrees F, 30.14 Inches Hg (mercury) barometer reading, 40% relative humidity and 5000 feet altitude, the engine only produces about 81.1% of the rated horsepower. " Rich you may have only had 240 RWHP !!

Probably true.... Would be great to have a portable dyno show up at the ORR to see what everyone is actually putting down on race day. Might surprise a lot of people.

Yes the altitude power loss is huge for a normally aspirated engine which is why Turbos/superchargers cars can do so well IF they are set up to run at altitude !
