I would love to add a SC to my car, but i do not want to mess a lot in the already crowded engine compartment. If someone could make a setup that retains the factory look and hide most of the components (i guess except the obvious SC)... then it would be a definitely interesting proposal... Many of my friends indicated the same thinking... plus i do not drive that fast on a regular day to start with...

I think mine is 2.73 or 2.37 lol (not at home with the figures at moment)
Whichever it is it gives a theoretical top speed of 225 mph....and I doubt my aerodynamics will EVER allow that even if I do take mine up to 1000 hp as I intend......

If you want it hidden ..Nitrous is the answer....you could easily hide the solonoids in the engine bay and use a small bottle which could be hidden anywhere in the car...

Nitrous is an option, but i am not too keen on riding on a bomb... plus having to recharge is an issue and the added heat on the block. The SC configuration is the best considering all new high performance cars are going that route (AMG and all...) just my thoughts.

Lol...you have the common misconceptions about Nitrous...
1, Nitrous is NOT explosive
2, Nitrous is NOT flammable
It is purely an oxidiser....it also COOLS the block...not heats it..
The advantage of Nitrous for you would be....the car drives perfectly normally UNTIL you arm and hit the switch..
Nitrous is fairly easy to find....most dentists use it...so you just get their supplier to fill your bottle for you...

another good option for near-hidden hp gains (on an S4 the FMIC is totally hidden) is Mark Robinson's www.928turbosports.com turbo kit... mid-mount turbo = no-see-um hp gain ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Probably what's affecting top speeds more are roads, cops and *****. You need a good road, no cops, and serious *****.
Seriously, how many of the folks with superchargers or turbos have really tapped their cars out to "see what she'll do"? Not many, even fewer will admit it in writing. Sanctioned events are another story, but it takes a lot of work to be able to pass tech & run a sanctioned event near the top speed of an SC'ed 928 with 2.2 gears.

George Sunnen seems to be the only one actually "Walking the Walk" with a supercharged highspeed effort. Everyone else just says.."Oh, my car will do XXX.XXmph..., or it SHOULD, as soon as I______"
As I am sure all the 'actual' open road participants will confirm, really going really fast is more difficult than just saying you can go really fast. It takes some very methodical preparations, a fairly serious and sustained commitment of your time, probably a few incrementally faster attempts to reach high speeds, and some courage. Courage to actually put down your 'go-foot' and leave it down and courage to commit to the effort and take the chance that you might fail or wimp out or some such.
On the other hand, it's an enjoyable effort to make, and you learn a bunch by doing something pretty "far-out" with others who are willing to push it a bit, also. Heck, just spending a few days in Battle Mountain, or driving in the Ely 'Competator's Parade" down mainstreet Ely, Nv...that alone is worth putting down the TV remote..
Anything over about 170mph, I think it isn't just one thing limiting your speed..not gearing, not hp, not aeros..but more a combo of all of those. At those speeds, everything has to be as right as possible..any one aspect slightly wrong, and you won't be getting much above 160-170...HP and Aero will be the ultimate limitors. You can add one or dimish the other and increase your potential top end, but running up at those speeds is VERY difficult to acheive. Again, ask anyone who has actually tried it..It is a real challenge.

How is it that 20mph is the only "safe" speed? The faster you travel, the greater your chances are of encountering some other obstacle that could harm you. Also with increasing speed you are exposed to more situations which might threaten your safety. Even standing still is not completely safe. And an asteroid may strike even the most secure concrete bunker buried under a mountain!
If any of our lawmakers get wind of that report we'll be seeing 20mph speed limits on US freeways! At least the insurance companies will be happy and rich!

I don't think it's the boost that blows head gaskets, but rather the additional pressure that results from burning a larger volume of air and gas. That's what blowers do: pack more air into a cylinder so that more gas can be ignited and more energy produced. In fact, boost pressures are very low compared to combustion pressures in a closed cylinder.
Nitrous is another means of getting more air into an engine so that additional gas can be burned. Pour in enough nitrous and the head gaskets and lots of expensive parts will assume new and unusual forms just as with blowers!

OK, I've tried. I really have. But I must butt in. Try to remember this axiom:
As the speed increases, the accident and death rate decreases. Proven fact, within reasonable boundaries, of course. Trying to imitate Craig Breedlove on a congested city surface street might test the above statement. But the speeds at which traffic is moving in this country presently, relative to that traveled a couple of decades ago, is steadily rising and the accident and death rates are dropping. Certainly vehicle design and highway construction have contributed, but that is precisely why drivers feel safer at higher speeds, and, believe it or not, the safest drivers are those that travel at the highest speeds. They suffer the lowest accident and fatality rates of all. So much for the 20 mph theory, (though I understand the spirit in which it was posted). The key is traffic FLOW, NOT speed restriction. In accordance with that objective, trying to keep everyone's relative speed UNIFORM is self defeating, unless you wish to increase the accident rate, for that is what interferes with flow. Of course, we could revert to a ridiculously low UNIFORM speed restriction under the absurd assumption that such a restriction would prevent injury in the event accidents occurred, and commerce would be arrested. Evolution and development would suffer. Individual (oops, sorry for using such a term when describing a UNIFORM world context) ability would atrophy, along with confidence and we would all become jellyfish floundering along praying that some unknown "they" have made correct planning decisions. Hey, isn't that just what is happening anyway in the US already? Yup, save the few who believe they can actually operate independently and take responsibility for such practices. Facts are facts. It is uncontrolled relative speed that is dangerous. But as has been stated, absent the desire to remain in our cribs, danger lurks in a bathtub with an inch of water in it, but it doesn't and shouldn't prevent those daring souls who wish to bathe from doing so.
