OB is a community coined term for the early CIS cars. This was done before I got to the email lists 6 years ago. It IS set in stone, and it IS the proper way to determine the nomenclature. Want to talk about an 84 USA? Thats an S2. You must use Euro for RoW for obvious reasons. S3 is the pre S4 32V cars.

No matter what you say an OB to the new generation is pre S4.
Get a life - move with times - enjoy it while you can!
Who gives a S**t about what they said on the old email list.
They called me all the names under the Sun because I bought a car from Schmit? spelling in SL.
I told them its only a car and they flipped there lids.
The Web forum is the future - forget the past.
Long live OB as pre S4.
Brendan - what you smoking Brother?

Rich & Brendan,
If they want to call a S2 an OB so be it. We know that the true OB was team built (not production line), had a clean body line, had the "Duntoff" cam of the Porsche world, was lighter and only had a sunroof as an "option". Next they will be combining the definition of Christmas to include Easter (same correlation).

Yes, Yes, Yes. I have an OB. A '79. I will procede to look down my nose at you others, like the 911 owners look down on me
Since I am relatively new here, what does CIS stand for? I'm guessing it related to injection? And RoW, which must refer to a non us model?
AHH! Rest of World!?!?!

Yep, RoW = Rest of World.
CIS is the purely mechanical fuel injection system on early cars, "Continuous Injection System" IIRC. A.K.A. K-jet. There is a slightly later K-Lambda variation that incorporates an O2 sensor for mixture control. After that you start getting into EFI, such as L-Jet & LH.

OB is '78-79 non spoiler body together with K-Jetronic. But is '80-82 ROW 4.5L also OB or is it something else?
