Mounting options for Recaro SRDs?
I got a nice pair of barely used Recaro SRDs. Great seats for providing more headroom when wearing a helmet. Even at 5'8" I need more headroom when racing and just about any passenger would as well.
Started to mount them... They are not just low, they are WAY low. You legs literally are straight out. I was thinking of spacing them up a bit - maybe an inch. How would you do this safely?
Perhaps there are other rails for mounting.
I poked around and found these...

How much height adjustment do they provide?

Bill, I remove my SRD when not racing. I find it uncomfortable for long stretches, not much support under the leg since they are so low. Fine for the track or an ORR, but not for everyday driving. Tim Dey's new Recaro fixed buckets are a different story, they are side mount and the seat angle can be adjusted on the mount. I actually think they were more comfortable, but harder to enter and exit. Also can't use the stock seat belts. I can see why you would need some height adjustment, but I think you will find that you prefer the stock seats for the majority of the time. Besides, it's quick and easy to swap out seats....makes intalling and taking out the roll bar easy too.

I have the Recaro Pole Position in my 79 - love'em even for daily street use. I'm thinking about buying another set for my 81.
The SRD's mount the same as the Pole Positions. Buy the side mount's - they will bolt onto a stock set of manual seat rails. Easy install.
I think the sliders you posted still make use of the side mounts you see in my car. The reason why I say this is because all current Recaro FIA certified seats are only side mount - reason why I bought these, the FIA certification.
EDIT - Nevermind, just googled the SRD seats. I was thinking about a different model

I may have screwed up somewhere, but I thought the Racing seats were an absolute bear to install and uninstall. I have cobras, and they use Steel or AL L brackets for side mount. Very little space for my big hands to get under there to do the bolts. I love the seats, but they are a one time deal for me. I put them in and am done.

As a last resort if correct brackets cannot be found, they can be fabricated. These are benz seats that I made brackets to fit a '69 chevy pickup. The customer wanted these seats at a certain height, so this is what I did. It worked great and they are rock solid. The only problem was the next year he wanted a different interior.

I think just a little elevation and the SRD's will be OK. At least they are way lighter than stock.

Bill, the secret to removing the stock seats easily is to cut a small piece of allen wrench, maybe 1/2 inch or so, and use that with a tiny box end wrench to loosen and install the front bolts. It can be a frustrating job the first time, but not really too bad after that. The rear bolts access easy with seat adjusted forward and up. Then just center the seat on the rail, lower the butt end, tilt backrest straight up, pull headrest toward/out door, and lift rest of seat out (assuming you unplug the wires). Try not to fart as you grunt the seat out.
Also, I don't think there is a sidemount for the SRD.
One other note...I removed the backrest adjustment **** from the inside of the seat, it interferes with the center tunnel when moving the seat aft. I know there is still a metal finger that protrudes and can damage the carpet....Tim had his cut off. But if you do that, you can't ever re-attach the adjuster, effectively making it a one-side seat. I left mine there, it does dig into the carpet because I put the seat so far back. You may not have the problem since you are shorter than me.
