Car problem
I was driving at about 80kms last night and a dog or fox ran across the road, I instinctively slammed on the breaks and I didnt realise but my wheels must of locked up for about 30 metres, I looked back and I could noticably see smoke. Anyway I start to drive and it feels like my tyres have a flat spot because the car shakes with each rotation of the wheel and the noise gets faster with speed, but it could be something else?
Could it be the diff or axels that are causing the problem?
Could it be a flat spot in the tyres?
What else could be the problem with the car?

yeh thanks for the advice, I've never locked up my breaks before and I normally push down on them pritty hard. I guess just because the dog was a real surprize I must of just panicked and slammed down without realising how much pressure I put on.

What does "shakes" mean?
A flat spot I would expect a clip/clop noise and a once per rev impulse type of vibration.
If much more or much different is going on, I would want it looked over carefully before driving it.
30 meters could really damage a tire too, a LOT of heat in one spot. Depending on the tire etc of course.

Sounds like the tires are flat spotted. You can try putting them on the back and burning them off but at the end you'll probalby have to replace them.

I think you flat spotted your tires You might want to check your front tie rod ends. Could one of the rear bushings been pulled apart? this is an older car pre 86 being that it doesn't have ABS any decent tire shop can inspect for suspension damage I would try getting estimantes rom a couple just to be sure ask them to show you what they find if something is loose they won't need to try and convince you the part is bad you will know check the bolts for obvious sign of tampering if you can't watch them work on the car from the start most shops see $$$ when a 928 pulls up.

Jack the car off the ground and spin each tire with a little brake pressure and with out. If no problem, then issue is with a tire or tires. Feeling it on your feet on the passenger side would point to a rear tire on that side of the car.
