Interior pictures of *real* roll cages in 928s?
I'm not talking about the simple roll cage. I'm asking for pics of roll cages that are
more NASCAR style - where the interior driver's side door skin has been removed
to make room for a cage that protects in the event of driver's side impacts. And
cages that have X-bracing.
I know I've seen some fantastic pics of roll cages installed in fully stripped
racers.
Can someone point me to any pics of these?
Thanks

Chuck,
Cool avatar. I like the track car in a parking garage? spot. How many drivers (of other cars) can say they drive their track cars to the track on race day? I keep reading about that on the 'list and I keep getting more and more tempted to give it a try.

When I go to the track, there are many more cars driven, then trailered. Now on a race weekend the driven cars are definitely in the minority.

I know jim drives his 80 to the track people didn't pay much attention to that old brown car at Sharktoberfest . I can appreciate someone who actually races than just dreams about it.
Chris
PS Jim I hope I can get things going to join you with my 79 can I use the steel braided brake lines?

Fantastic!
Mark's roll cage is a work of art! But it certainly doesn't look like it accomodates a
passenger too well. And that's kind of too bad, because I'm sure there are a
few of us that would love to ride along!
John, your set-up is great! That was exactly the style that I was looking for. Not
sure if you have any of the additional bracing that Mark incorporated, such as the
front coilover tower top to dash bar via firewall intrusion.
Obviously, the safety created by great cages such as these is the goal. But curiosity
has me wondering what the weight is. Any real numbers? If I had to guess, I'd
say that they add about 75 to 100 lbs.

My cage is similar to JV's but was installed when I had a full interior so there are a few less bars. I had complete door panels, headliner, dash, cove moldings, etc. in place with this.
Photos are old, but show the general layout.
Maybe add a fuel cell at the same time.
A splitter
The list goes on and on, DA Konis, hypercoils, spherically mounted suspension, S4 brakes, BBS wheels, hours to take weight off, wing, accusump, oil cooler, fender flares. But I digress

Ok - Stan, where on earth do you keep all your cars?
There are pro's and con's to driving the car to the track - Pro's - I love pulling in, car filled with tools, tires, and gear and seeing the other racers watching me unpack. Let's see - set of 18" rims with tires, large tool box, large air tank, box of spare parts and fluids, jack, jack stands, brief case with all the racing electronics, radio, camera, etc, bag with all my racing gear - suit, helmet, etc. canopy, tarp, fold up chair(With built in ice cooler), water - The con's - I leave my side windows at home - rain is not nice on the drive to the track especially at 5am.
BTW - Looking at John V's car - my car is almost the mirror image with regards to the roll cage.

Tom,
Do you have any close-up pictures of the custom gauge pod in the middle?
